Lila Connect - VX Fibre 1gig - Stoke on Trent

Finally Lilo are live at ST3, yipeee. They've just cabled the road joining mine after 3yrs.
Deciding on 250 or 1gbit. If the ping is much better on 250 I'll go for that, does anyone have 250?

Hi bud, I keep forgetting to call them about it but I haven't been unable to connect directly to ONT via my Netgear. I don't think I will be able to connect without Lila's support.
Thanks for that got installed the other day I've had to call them twice to get my router swapped over playing in settings of various routers
Blissfully unaware I would get locked out after changing routers over. Each time I have called they have had to give me a new ip. Naturally sticking with the one I have now a good while now.

Could anybody explain why i get such varying speed results with different test sites also i am concerned about my ping as it seems to be quite high in the 30s some test sites report over 100.? these results are on cabled pc's

First one you are connecting to a server in Sweden which is why you see 29 ping, doing a test, mine is the same to Sweden. From what I was told about the FTTP that Lila install, all data cables travel to London first and then onto where you are connecting to. Select a server in London and retry. Also, see what their internal speed test gives you - http://speed-uk1.vx.se/index.html

I also find that Libre Speed is better than Speedtest.net - https://librespeed.org/

Your connection will always be limited by the amount of servers it passes through to reach the target. You'll also be impacted by the hardware used on servers you are connecting to.

Thx I thought there maybe something wrong with my connection, using ookla speed test strangely my ping is halved on wireless devices and I have already gone through testing all of my ethernet cables to rule out cable ussues both of my wired windows pcs show similar pings on ookla but wireless devices ping between 10 and 15. Using internal speed test on vx i get below 500 on wired connection.

So you're up and running now with your own router?

Yes all up and running using netgear orbi RBK53 mesh system with the netgear router in router mode connected directly to lila ont. I had to call them and speak to tech support who had to assign a new ip before any new router could latch on to the connection. Be aware once working you have to stick with that router as changing again will not work without the intervention of Lia tech support again. I intend to upgrade router but not for several months at least, lila's zyxel router happily in its box.

Why would you want your own Router?

Are you me?! I have got the exact same orbi router. Will give them a call now.

I tried the lila and some of my ethernet cables did not work running In to it but no such issues with my own router all cables work as expected, furthermore my netgear being a mesh system running it on its own removed the need to have extra unnecessary routers running.
I now have ont and my router mesh system as opposed to ont-lila router-mesh.

I'm up and running. Plus adding to that, it means there is no double NAT issue with two routers

Considering a lot of people are meshing their homes due to numerous devices I'm surprised ISP's don't offer a cheaper deal with no router. Unless its to aid in the solving of connection issues.
I've a few ISP routers lying around & never used TalkTalks thing.
