Lila Connect - VX Fibre 1gig - Stoke on Trent

Just had an email from Lila to say I can now order

Whats everyones option on the service thats been with them? I saw some poor reviews of them in Stoke on Facebook, heard of a bad outage, so unsure if I should jump ship or not yet, just on 60mb FTTC from NOW tv at the moment

The only outage I've had is once back in early 2021 when a cable had broke but it was fixed within a couple hours. I've been with them since Jan 2021, Breeze to start with, and if you see my recent posts about them, I would avoid them due to their lack of customer support. Now with Lila as the ISP and had no issues in the two weeks I've been with them (Plus better support if needed). There was an outage in Colchester in late September I believe but didn't affect Stoke. The main service is CGNAT but they do offer static IP address for £6 extra per month. I pay £25.99 for 1Gb up and down, I was paying £30+ with Plus Net before this. Honestly it's the best connection I've had.

Thanks. How did you get the 1gig for £25.99, seems to be £29.99 from Lila?
I paid the full fibre subscription fee in one go (subscription fee is kind of like line rental). You can pay it in one go, £650, or pay £10 per month for the whole time you have a connection through them. The £10 you will see for the fee is included in the £29.99 you are seeing. For me it shows as £19.99. The extra £6 is for static IP.

Have you or anyone else used a voip phone service via lila connect?
I haven't and don't know many personally that have internet through Lila.

thanks, yes I remember at the time there was a £10 fee or a one off payment

Told Blurton area should be going live in March so put my order in, can't wait to leave VM as they are way overpriced . Intending to pay installation in full. I know some suggest a 5 year pay back but that doesn't take into account the £40 or so reduced monthly cost between lila and vm for 1gig broadband if you are a long term existing customer.

Your monthly cost to Virgin is irrelevant. You're swapping to Lila so it's a choice of paying £650 plus £19.99/month or £29.98/month. Though checking current availability I can't see the option to pay the £650 up front now.

You can always order on the phone with them. You may then get the chance to pay in one go. I did it almost 2 years ago so can't remember where it was on the site.

Speak to them and you will find that you can pay up front. With regards to the cost it isn't irrelevant in my opinion although it will be a personal choice. Ignoring who supplies the service, if you are getting exactly the same goods but at a £40 per month cheaper that must be relevant in making your choice. Using the concept of that saving to offset the initial full connection cost and thereby making further future savings makes economic sense to me, but each to their own.

If you're saving £40 a month moving from VM to Lila then you must have just allowed a VM contract to roll and accepted every annual price increase without negotiating a renewal.

Nope I renegotiate every time and ger a discount but the alternative up to now has been copper so speeds of 30mps at best but more likely less. At present I get 1gig hence the comparison. VM do negotiate within limits but they have a huge speed advantage. The alternative is to leave put up with slow speeds for 12 months then return as a new customer but that would change once the contract needed renewing. It's the traditional catch 22 situation. Thankfully lila is changing that. I would suggest that people give them a ring as there are other benefits they don't advertise

I'm also Blurton and my cables were put down in October 2020.
I've had over 6 hours on the phone with Virgin with 3 departments and none of them will do anything.
I've told them that Lila are going to destroy them and one bloke in Customer Relations said 'I agree'.

Same here, please ring the lila number they are looking to install in March, tell them when your contract ends. The person I spoke to is based in Stoke on Trent, most helpful and I am sure you will get a pleasant surprise about your existing contract with VM. Can't say more but trust me on this.

This number? +44 0800 955 6670

I don't understand what you're saying, if I ring Lila I could end up with a better deal from Virgin?
