Lila Connect - VX Fibre 1gig - Stoke on Trent

The installation will require a box on the outside of your property to terminate fibre from outside. It will then require a second box on the inside that requires power as thats what you connect your router to.
My kitchen is at the front of the house nearest to the road/path. Will they install the box there or are they likely to run it past the kitchen and straight into the living room? A router in the kitchen probably isn’t ideal, so I’m hoping they can run it a further few meters so it goes directly to the living room. :)

I'm not sure on that. When they did mine, 2 years ago, I phoned to ask and a guy came out to check they could do what I wanted. I have the non powered black termination box at the front of the property (my kitchen is also at the front) but I then have the cable going into the garage which is to the side and that's where it terminates into the ONT (powered) box.

Just gone through the first stage of ordering a connection. As im in contract until September with Virgin, I get free lila for 7 months once connected, and my connection is anytime march to june..So while i still pay virgin, i wont be paying lila :D

It cant hurt having it Lila installed if im not paying for it.... though i will try to get rid of virgin without penalty if i can before september

This mega post seems to be the only one I've found for them. I can't find any forum similar to Virgins out there...

Any 1 had problems with there probe/raspberry pie showing 1gb up/down and any other device not showing 1 gig up ?
Hi Marv,

I had my LilaConnect installed on Friday (03/02/2023) and the engineer showed 1Gbps up and down on his device before he left, so I was happy. After they left I did some tests on Speedtest net and I only got 200Mbps up, I rebooted the router as I had requested a static public IP and seemed to get near enough 1Gbps up and down, so I was happy again. Since then I was working from home on Monday and had a couple of drops first thing, but it seemed ok after that. I did some more speed testing from various different online broadband speed testers and I was getting anything from 600-950Mbps down and as low as 150Mbps up. I tried downloading some files around 20GB and they started off coming down at 100MBps but rapidly dropped down to around 10MBps and the then jumped up and down between that and 30MBps. On my Virgin Media 250Mbps connection I would a solid 30 MBps downloading similar files.

My Wife is working from home today and told me she's been having intermittent drop outs throughout the day. I'll give them a ring tonight and see what they say.

You are on a wired connection direct to router for testing?

Test the big companies for speed testing like Google. You can't rely on a third party for testing it could be their end limiting.

Lila are going live in my area in 6-8 weeks, currently with Virgin 1GB and about to be out of contract with them. Wondering if to move, it's certainly cheaper but is the connection just as good?

Can pretty much guarantee the connection will be better in terms of latency. You should be able to get a really good initial contract deal as well, being a new customer.

They offer this just on the website, if they do door-to-door tactics for new areas going live, you might be able to get an even better deal:

At the very least, been on virgin (like myself currently) you now have another highspeed provider, and thats a good bargaining tool to get a cheaper virgin media rate. BT (openspace) dont offer anything above 67mb in my area.. SO lila is welcome addition... my friend has it installed recently, and been a solid 900 to 1000 mb with no issues

Been with Lila for a while now, never had issues until last few days. Wireless connected but internet randomly dropping off on multiple devices.

I use a nighthawk RAX200 router connected to the Lila SDD. I’ve switched everything off and now reset the router.

SDD light is green along with the cat cable to the router, all lights on router are white inc internet.

When using the nighthawk app to setup, it says internet connection not found.

Also if I plug the tv directly to the SDD it says internet not found.

Can’t contact anyone over the weekend so not sure what’s up.

Had similar issue for almost two weeks since my installation and it got worse this week with frequent connection drop off.

I got in touch with Lila this week and they confirmed multiple reports from their customers.

However, I got a follow up call from their line support team who confirmed that a patch has been rolled out on their network by their engineers and the issue should now be resolved for the majority of the affected customers.

Whilst on the call, I was asked to power cycle the SDD and Router, and since then till now, the connection has been solid with usual near 1gb speeds.

I’ve unplugged the SDD and router more times than I care to remember and still the same.

I’ll probably have to phone them Monday.

I would suggest you give them a call. They line support admitted though that they are no 100% sure if the patch has completely fixed the issue. Also said in my case, it could be the issue was the reason I had intermittent connections.

They asked me to monitor the connection over this weekend and if it still persist, then they would have to escalate to their network engineers to look into it specifically.

So far, connection is solid with lots of devices connected via WIFI and Ethernet.

Regarding your nighthawk RAX200 router, did have to get Lila to do anything to get it working? I tried to connect my Netgear RBR750 Router to the SDD, got it all set up via the app, but no internet.

No issues with the router just plugged in and connected. Did the setup wizard and job done.
