Lila Connect - VX Fibre 1gig - Stoke on Trent

interesting. I never knew they had an out of hours number (which I'm guessing is just an on-call engineer). I have a lot more than 16 devices connected to my network and I find it unlikely that a device would stop Internet from working considering they're on local and it was the actual internet connection. I have TP-link, asus, Eufy, Reolink, Android devices from Samsung, Google, also Hive, Yale and more connected. Could be faulty router or SDD. I don't use their router so I can't say on how reliable it is.

ok, good to know. Just seen your update. Interesting how the first person said devices not compatible but the issue was actually them with the duplicate IP.

yes, it doesn't matter what company they will always spout nonsense.
They also told him he'll never see a really good Speedtest on his system because of all his CCTV, Fire Sticks etc, I said that is nonsense and sent him a screengrab of me streaming a total of 6 CCTV devices and being on 986mbps download.

I stream 5 (one doorbell) and my download is always the same. Guess they employ people who don't actually know what they're talking about.

DIdn't know this thread was about! We've just had it active in Bristol a few weeks. Mine was installed a few weeks ago to the house, but they encountered issues blowing the fiber to the box so pavement/road needs to be dug up.

What's the general consensus on speed/reliability?
Had it installed since January 2023. Speed has been solid connection well over 990MB Upload and Download.

Only in the first two weeks when I had intermittent issues with my connection which was caused by a duplicate IP issue, immediately I reported it, they very knowledgeable engineer sorted it out over th phone. So far, nothing to complain about since installation and I am very happy with the service given that BT and Virgin are not prepared to provide FTTP here till 2028:rolleyes::rolleyes:.

Also, one of the Engineer I spoke with before signing up last year said the network in the very near future will offer internet speed through their fibre network in excess of 2gbs :eek::eek:

In theory they could do 2GB as the fibre put down would support it. Being able to actually have any real world use from it is another question :D.

Actually 10Gbit is capable when I spoke to them. And they're already doing 10Gbit trials.
I do like the sound of that but would anyone make use of that in a normal home? I download games often in around 10-15 minutes if it's 80GB. 2GB would be around 7-8 and 10GB about 2 minutes. That's the only thing I can think of that has rela world impact.

Not Lila related, but in terms of speed discussions my experience moving to a 500Mbps symmetric FTTP from 60/18 FTTC is that I don't really notice a difference in normal usage. At any point in my working day you could switch me back to FTTC and it would take me a long time to realise that anything had changed - with the caveat that my FTTC was incredibly stable and reliable (no long-term outages in 11 years levels of stability, no loss of sync rate other than standard crosstalk degradation). Web browsing is just as responsive as it always has been, maybe YouTube videos start playing a fraction quicker than they did before, Teams calls are just as usable as they've always been. I'm sure web designers are working to fill their pages with even more garbage so that it slows back down again.

However, when I do have a need to download a file then the difference is night and day, and this difference is even more extreme if I ever need to upload anything. Working with a relatively small 2Gb file is something that pauses your workflow when you only have 18Mbps to play with, at 500Mbps it just happens. I didn't go with 1Gb because the £12 extra a month didn't seem worth it to me, and I'm happy with that decision. If 200Mbps had been the sweet spot in terms of pricing then I probably still wouldn't have stretched to 1Gb.

Agreed. Im regularly downloading 50GB+ files and the difference between FTTC 70Mb and FF 500Mb is just a breath of freah air.

Regular Web stuff is about as good as before as my FTTC connection was fortunately a good one.

I mean that is logical, most websites are KB/MB so anything over a few megs a second won't make much diff.

Good news is they have said my blockage was cleared this week (I don't believe them) but they want to try finish the install next week!

Too good to be true, told you I don't believe them!

Turned up today, and told them have a go like but no one has been here since you came last time. Of course, it's still blocked because no one has touched the road! :D

Sounds like the contractor lied to them or some sort of miscommunication.

I cant see this lot being around for long ,they must have had a shed load of government cash to lay these cables ,because their business model means a very low income stream !!
Ordered on 18/02/2023 as it was showing as available ,i recomended it to my labourer who had his installed in march ( he is in stanfields ) i am on sandon road meir and have just been informed that it may be available for installation ..December 23 to March 2024 !!!!! ( subject to change obviously ) what a joke

I had to wait from October 2021 when they laid the cables to April 2023.

I'm in Penkridge and I ordered in November 2022 after placing an interest on the site in October. I got an email saying I could order as they were building in my area soon.
They said I could book an install date in May-June 2023. When you do a postcode check on my street it is no longer available to book now, it says they are not building in our area yet lol :D
We have a few Lila connect green cabs around the village and about 6 houses on the other side of the village have hand-over boxes in the path outside their houses.
I'm not holding out much hope, especially after reading this thread which is a shame.
