Living in University Halls

I am going into mt first year at uni, however, I would like to know if anyone here has experience of trying to get into halls for the second year as well. Is this a hard thing to do. I know it will differ depending on the UNI etc but generally has anyone managed to do this?

At Coventry, a group of us decided to stop in the same halls (same rooms actually) for the second year. Cov was fine with that, as long as we booked it reasonably early (think we did it before Easter in our first year).

We then moved into a different set of halls (moved to a self catering from catered that also had parking space, something that a few of us really needed by that point) for the third year with a group of people we'd met in our second year :)

Yeah....try and avoid going too deep into Hillfields unless you have weapons :D

I'm working near Coventry from Sept onwards, so will be living in Earlsdon with some mates who are still at Uni. To be honest, the Uni isn't too bad (I visited Brunel, and the general attitude just put me right off so I made Cov my first choice), but some of the management issues used to really wind me up. Half of the idiots running the place couldn't find their arse with both hands.....

LOL, did you import that from the US through a time machine in the 70's? :D

I didn't, previous owner bought it off a student in about '89 and imported it. First owner had it from new ('83) until the student guy bought it in '87.

:)

I haven't had time to read through this whole thread so somebody may have already brought this up but;

Has anybody had any experience with playing XBOX 360 online using university hall ethernet?

If so, how does it work?

I'll be going into halls at Strathclyde Uni in September, some good advice in the thread. I doubt you'll be able to use Xbox live with the 360, but by the sounds of it make sure you have fifa and 4 controllers! me and my mates play it at home all the time, like 8 people round at once and we take it in turns so probably be similar at uni.

lol

me gran just dropped off a shed load of pot noodles and packets of flavoured rice, and pasta towards my "going to war" trip.

dear me

its all fun

You'll end up with so much food you won't know what to do with it :p

Then it goes downhill, and you end up with hardly any food. Beer is probably better for you than food. :D

Edit: I got my accomodation stuff through 2 weeks before I went to uni. They usually take a few weeks to get everyone sorted out, and allocate people to rooms etc.

Oh, and thought I'd add, for people going to uni in Notts: Should you, in any circumstances (should NEVER happen tbh) run out of booze after off licence hours, www.thebeerbaron.co.uk should be your first stop :D Perfect for keeping that party alive :p
