Living in University Halls

Oh I see...

BTECs confuse me.

Come on guys, feed us more stories and advice! Gogogo!!!

I'm sure you guys will have stories of your own very soon :p

Just beware of the randomer that always eats your stuff when you leave it in the fridge. Then proceed to slap them with a wet trout when you figure out who's been doing it.

I've already been living with mates for the past 2 years. One guy had an interesting way of protecting his milk - let's just say what he self produced and put in the carton was the same colour and in no short supply.

He only did it every now and then, just enough to ensure no-one would dare risk it.

Urgh, didn't need to know that :p

We had one guy in our block of flats that used to leave his food in the fridge for months at a time. At one point, there was a bowl of what looked like vomit in the fridge that had its own ecosystem. Absolutely disgusting, it spewed over the sides of the bowl and was growing for at least two months.

Needless to say, I rarely ever put refridgerated food in that fridge for the remainder of the year :\

I shudder to think who had the task of cleaing that lot up.

Yep, well Northumbria, but not the halls. Im staying at home then might find my own place in the second year.

Oh noes! Why would you stay at home? That's no fun!

Come sleep on the floor in my flat!

I considered the halls, but couldnt see the point in splashing out £3k when i have a nice comfy home 5 mins along the road. Get my ironing done and everything ;)

This will prove to be the worst decision of your life. Trust me, I did the same thing. If you want to relate what you will get out of moving out for your money, £3000 is an absolute bargain.
I cant begin to discribe how much you will miss out on. You only have 3 years to experience the "uni life", which IS the best time of your life, so dont be cheap, and miss out!

I lived at home for the first year, and I though it wasnt too bad, while I was living there, But after moving out, my perspective changed so much, now I actually find it depressing coming back home, and getting back into the normal routine.

MP... for computer science!? lol.. did they not ask for a DD???

think comp sci and comp foren require the same UCAS points on entry... 240...which is impossible even with a DD i think. a DD gets 220points. i have 200points..

well i flaming better get in then :p

Hopefully you will get in, northumbria have been brilliant to deal with for me.

As for moving away, im thinking about it now but not going to do it yet, probably will after the first year during the holidays. The main thing that put me off was spending a night at sunderland uni halls, what a tip they were.

Northumbria uni told me last week about mine, but i only got the paperwork today. If you didnt get the required grades maybe they delay the application a bit? I mean a DM is hardly a low grade.

i hadnt sent the certificate off til last thursday.

they phoned me up asking if i can send it up.. so i have.

maybe im being hasty expecting a reply from last thursday so soon?

but i hope i get something back soon

EDIT: UCAS Track, what is that supposed to do, it hasnt changed since march

I totally forgot about the UCAS track thing, aint used it in months. Youll probably be better dealing directly with the uni now. Id say give them another week then get onto them. You dont need to collect your student card until the 16th September and then you dont have your induction day until the 18th September, so dont get worried yet as its still a month away providing your at Northumbria? If you are then see you at the induction day as comp sci and comp forensics are inducting together by the looks of it :p

yeh sure, northumbria, fingers crossed i am there and ill see you there.

i hope i get into comp forensics, i put it as my isurance as i didnt expect to get a DM,

i put a foundation ict as firm, all they wanted was a pass basically.

but of course, comp forensic, my "backup" is my preferred choice before i had a DM and now i have a DM.

i will see and hope :)
