Living in University Halls

Im going miss the randomness when the time comes, and I have to leave and get a job *shudders*

I actually spent quite a lot of time in my or my girls room since there is only a limited amount of stuff you can do in loughborough, being so small and crappy...

Bwhahahaha you should hear some of the warwicksnow society chants about loughborough. Boy they hate you guys ;)

Between me and my 3 mates we have a wealth of stories, some which we keep between ourselves as personal amusement, one involved a night out at a high end club called Attica, a table dancer who for some reason ended up in our halls;) I won't let out any details but you can use your imagination:D Oh and there were video clips for people who didn't believe us....

This thread has gone downhill! We need more stories about people and their time in halls!! and other adventures! ;)

You sound like a child :p Go talk to your grandfather or something..

(and I was saying we need more stories earlier aswell)

How the hell did you afford all the stuff you apparently afford :/

How's it different for you then?

Unless you live in an annex or in the space above the garage like Boner in Growing Pains (Anyone? Boner? /Scrubs ;)) then i can't believe you can stumble in drunk at 4 without waking your parents. I also doubt you can make as much noise as you want with a girl without your parents caring too much, and i'm sure they won't try and be louder than you like my housemates do :o
Umm, iv moved out and its no different for me.

Some of us have parents who trust us, dont mind us living our lives, and have houses big enough so you can have sex with 2 girls at the same time without waking anyone else in the house up. (and then have your mum come in the next morning and talk to them :p :D )

Just because you didnt have that at home growing up, doesnt mean other people didnt. I moved out anyway becaue i wanted the experiance, but I wouldnt say it was anywhere near essential for some people.

Ok, for people who's parents still dictate there lives and treat them like there still 12 years old, maybe it is, but for a lot of us it isnt. I did anyway because i wanted the new experiance, its far from life changing however.

Some people have got the intelligence to not need a wake up call that moving out provides, iv met a lot of people at uni who clearly have needed it, but i know and a few other who havnt.

Might be living with the wrong people then.

Well you got me there, my house here isn't that big. However, my mum does trust me and she lets me live my life. In fact i don't think she ever told me or my brother to do anything, yet we're both leading good lives and i have masses of respect for my mum.

Having a mum let you do what you want and living away from home at university are two entirely different things.

I don't really get what you're saying here, hasn't got much to do with what i'm saying but i guess your having a go at people who's parents wrapped them up in cotton wool, i never have been so i wouldn't know. None of my friends were treated like they were 12 years old and they all prefer living at uni

You're veering off my point here. I sort of agree with you, i've met quite a few people that haven't been mature enough to move out of their parents homes, fortunantely i didn't have to live with them! Maybe they were the ones that were wrapped up in cotton wool.

Aye, it's not all about the associated freedoms, living on campus or around uni is just a different scenario than living at home. You have to be more independent and make more decisions. For me living at uni meant i'm living in one of the busiest cities in the world, a city that doesn't sleep and you don't get that experience living at home in the countryside.

everyone should post what place they are staying at.. and what uni

maybe some people will be lucky to be in the same place.

me...

Northumbria Uni

Place of living:

Quay Point

I implimented this into my website last year (see sig) :) Not sure if it actually helped anyone manage to meet up but you neverknow :)

Quay Point is a nice place to live but security is a bit ott to be honest....you'll see what I mean when you get there :p

Knoll Court is one of the best, security is just right and accommodation is really nice! Plus normally only 4 people share a kitchen which is bigger than what 6 people share at Quay Point

BeatMaster :D

P.S.

Computing Studies / Year 1 / Northumbria University / Knoll Court
Computing Studies / Year 2 / Northumbria University / Home (Start Sept.)

I don't even get that experience living in England's second city :p

I knew I had to move away from home for uni though, and I feel it's been for the best so far. I've experienced things I wouldn't have if I had stayed at home for uni. Paying bills, having to make budgets for stuff, not being financed by the Bank Of Mum (tm), and so on.
A lot of people get on fine being at home for uni, and that's fine. But for some people, getting away from home for a few years is the kickstart that's needed to plan and get the required experience needed when you're older and living away.
