Living in University Halls

There are always ways to get around it, you just have to be a little engenious with what you do. If all else fails there is no harm in going to the admin and asking them to open up the 360 ports

Well our Uni at least, had banned and blocked online gaming, file sharing, IRC etc etc. True, there may be ways around it, but it hardly seems worthwhile, and wouldn't want to get caught either.

In any case, as I said, pings probably won't be very good anyway.

Just encrypt the data and relay it through an offcampus hub ;) They wont know what your sending so they cant do anything about it. True that might knacker your pings abit for online gaming but it should be ok on out of peak hours.

I don't think my halls do by default as theres an extra package thing that you have to pay for called "gaming plus" or something which is £15 per year on its own.

I feel a bit sorry for those who aren't moving out of their parents house for university. You'll have to sneak girls in, pretend you're not drunk when you come in and not be that free to do what you want....

Maybe in your parents house you do, dont assume thats the same for everyone :)

Im thinking of, well....i say, but getting a good bunch of us from our first day and just go out on the lash, makes introductions easier.....dutch courage.

How's it different for you then?

Unless you live in an annex or in the space above the garage like Boner in Growing Pains (Anyone? Boner? /Scrubs ;)) then i can't believe you can stumble in drunk at 4 without waking your parents. I also doubt you can make as much noise as you want with a girl without your parents caring too much, and i'm sure they won't try and be louder than you like my housemates do :o

Even so, living at uni is a completely different experience.

Yeah, definitely. From my uni experience, i couldn't have done half the things i have done if i still lived with mummy and daddy at home.

I no what you mean there buddy! I got to wait 4weeks too. I wanna go now. lol

Do you guys think the mods would mind if i posted a thread about where people were going to University for what courses, updating the first post as people reply to create a comprehensive list, so when they get to uni there are people we can perhaps meet up with.

What do you think?

Rob

The randomness is the best and that only happens when you are with your mates 24/7, living at home is a limiting factor. I rarely stayed in my room, well only for the few hours for sleep, other than that we were always out doing something.

just out of intrest is anyone using

univillage.com

ive like myspace but for your particular uni, ive been chatting to people who will be living in the same block as me

I'm on facebook atm (already at uni though) which is really good for uni stuff. Only people who are members of colleges/unis/companies that are on there lists can join (you need a email account from that organisation).

I also really like the layout.

Im going miss the randomness when the time comes, and I have to leave and get a job *shudders*

I actually spent quite a lot of time in my or my girls room since there is only a limited amount of stuff you can do in loughborough, being so small and crappy...
