Living in University Halls

32 - If your room don't come with insurance, get some, cost about £5 a month.

33 - Always have a stock of asprin for hang overs.
Insurance sounds like a very good idea :).

Pink Grapefruit juice seem to be what people say is the cure for hangovers here. Although i've never gotup early enough to need one. I guess a decent alarm clock is also needed? ;)

both (or either) :).

Aberdeen University has a good reputation and it's a campus so everything is close to you when you need it but it's still close enough to the city centre for you to be able to walk or it's on one of the main bus routes.

Aberdeen is really grey and looks pretty depressing on a wet day but is actually pretty nice on a good day, there are plenty of parks and there's the beach. It's a really small city and has two universities so it's got a big student population and lots of pubs and clubs to go with it which have definitely improved over the few years I've been here. It's a pretty good place to be a student because of the close proximity of everything although it's more expensive than other places because of the oil industry.

I visited the uni on a cold wet and windy day in November, I was only in the city long enough to get thrown out of one pub and bluff my way into another (I wasn't/still not 18 ;)) because my flight was quite early :).

29 - DO NOT, SERIOUSLY, DO NOT let people know you know about PCs , you'll ended up being the tech guy who everyone comes to get their problem fixed for nothing. Not worth it, specially when you can't fix it and they blame you for it.
What if your there to study computer science? Your basically stuffed!!

I was on the floor laughing.

I dunno about at uni, but at school the people who do psychology tend to be a hell of a lot more geeky than those doing computing /shrug :).
It was a case of the first thing he could think of I believe :D

5) Manchester is an EXCELLENT place to be student, goto:
A) Fallowfield - awesome if your a fresher, check out Robo's, Queen of Hearts, and if you want to find the nicer ladies Revolution in Fallowfield or Lofa at the locks (if its still there)
B) Withington (I used to live there) is okay, one decent pub, thats about it, loads of second year students though
C) Didsbury, classy, not really a night out place though, more for a quick drink and then get the (42/43?) into the centre

Get into Manchester city centre, absolutely tons of clubs, pubs, bars. Can't go wrong with 5th Ave place is packed with students.

Halls are great fun if you know nobody at your uni. Move in, put all your posters up, and leave your door ajar so people feel welcomed.

The first week is a little awkward if you lived with an utter fool like me, but the rest of the people should be cool. Don't forget to take a few bottles of beer with you to help break the ice.

Alcohol does good things.... Most of the time :)

Yeah I made it because it just dawned on me today that in a few weeks i'll have to arrange travel and stuff. Seemed so far away until today for some reason.

Yeah i find it really annoying that a lot of student loans and everdrafts etc aren't given to us until A level results come out, this is a problem for me because theres less that 100 rooms left where i want to stay so im having to have my parents pay first payment and the deposit which is around £800 and ill pay them back when all money comes thought.

So many phone calls to make tomorrow aswell
