why are we getting monkeys still then? how much money should we be paying mps millions a y ear?Pay peanuts, get monkeys. Private sector pays way too much for anyone of decent ability to be bothered with politics, unless they're a shill for the private sector.
Incentivise good performance on key metrics that can't be fudged. Just like (most) of the senior private sector roles. The cash they get is irrelevant if they are making the difference that delivers that value.why are we getting monkeys still then? how much money should we be paying mps millions a y ear?

Surely this can't be true
It’s a pretty generous expense account though, 2/3rds of her annual salary despite being in office for a month and a half. The article is disingenuous. It's an expense account, not a grant.

Plus pension and in the case of Boris and Teresa plus £84,000 mp salary. Quite the gravy train indeed.Yes. They don't call it the gravy train for nothing.
All former Prime Ministers are entitled to the allowance - even if they continue serving in Parliament - though if they accept any public appointment then the amount will be reviewed. This means that former Prime Ministers who continue to serve as MPs, such as Theresa May and Boris Johnson, are paid the allowance on top of their £84,144 salary.
However, Truss has faced calls to turn down the allowance, due to her short time in office. Mark Serwotka, general secretary of the Public and Commercial Services Union(opens in new tab) - which represents civil servants - said: "At a time when one in five civil servants are using food banks and 35% have skipped meals because they have no food, it’s grotesque that Liz Truss can walk away with what is effectively a £115,000 bonus."
The Prime Minister is entitled to an annual salary of £164,080. Their earnings are made up of £79,936 for their role as Prime Minister, and an additional £84,144 as an MP.
Yes mate, thought out to its fullest extent and posted on OCUK for the government to pickup and execute. Is this a serious proposal? You haven't thought of any barriers that might get in the way of this suggestion?
Given the role I don't.think MP/pm salaries are particularly outlandish.
The deserve to be paid what they are worth. Which for many of them is not a lot.Given the role I don't.think MP/pm salaries are particularly outlandish.
By being the Prime Minister, you need to be a member of parliament anyway.
