Logitech K750 Solar Powered KB

Hey Khaaan! what's that block shaped device to the left of your screen by the way? looks like some sort of card reader is sitting on top of it.

It's where the Internet is, a select few people get chosen to look after the Internet every month, my time was when I wrote the review so the pics could be uploaded faster to the Internet. :)

It's actually a Western Digital 1TB HDD!

Khaaan! - how do you feel about the keyboard now you've had it a couple of weeks? I've been looking at this since late last year pondering whether to buy one. I type a fair amount and I'll be honest I'm use to mechanical keyboards with proper pressured feedback, not sure how I'd get on with prolonged typing on this.

Shame cos I think it's look ace and it'd save me on batteries!! :)

Although batteries aren't really a problem for Logitech keyboards (most run for 9+ months on a set of AAA for example) the thickness is much nicer on the solar due to not having to bother with them :p

Keyboard is still going good for me, keys still feel great and typing is fast and quiet. I find myself touch typing a lot more than ever before and the 2nd half of this post was touch typed!

Gaming wise it's also been a joy.

Since buying this a month ago, I seem to have fallen in love with it :). Easily the best keyboard I've ever used and my hands and wrists have adapted pretty quickly to the low profile.

I was just wondering, what do the other K750 users recommend for cleaning it as the finish is really nice. Lint free cloth and glasses cleaner maybe? So far I've just been using general cleaning surface wipes for the key surfaces and the cloth that came with it for the shiny bulk of the board / solar panels. But that's just shifting dust about.

One minor problem I've noticed though, it scratches. You can only really see them under certain angles when fairly close to a light source, so for the most part I've not even noticed them, it was only today when I was giving her (yes, I've named her too) a clean. Awesome advice here. :D

Ah yes, I use screen cleaning wipes to clean smudged and so on but a microfibre cloth just to keep dust off it every few days.

I too have noticed under some lighting conditions the faint scratches, much like how car bodywork has the cobwebbing effect under strong sunlight but I've seen this happen on any piano black plastic gadget as well.

Thanks for the brilliant post Khaaan!.

Currently looking at this as a replacement to my G11, but I do game a fair bit and would also miss things like media controls (volume mostly) and the function keys, which I also find very useful.

The other option for me is the G510 or G110, I have a 50% discount on Logitech's store atm.

I would appreciate the further input of one of the owners of this board on the subject of gaming, now you've had some more time to contemplate how good/bad they are.

Thanks! :)

I'm sure the others will agree here with their experiences but for me the gaming experience has been excellent, it's the same with my previous keyboards and the same with wired. No real difference, instant response and nice feeling keys with a raised bottom row to help gaming as well (although I imagine Logitech did this to aid typing mainly but it helps gamers more!).

You get media controls of course as well as function keys. you just have to press the FN button to invoke a media action or function call.

Thanks, that's useful to know. Now I must weigh up my options. The K750 looks a lot more professional on the desk than a multi-coloured keyboard with a screen, but it does lack features that I do actually use. Decisions decisions!

Just got one of these kb's

I think its great to type on, I echo the sentiments of everyone in this thread. I am a bit worried about the battery though, at night its sad face even though I have a desk lamp.

In the day it gets to up to around 200 lux, but I'm a bit worried it will start to lose charge soon. I read it can work for 3 months in total darkness so it shouldn't happen anytime soon.

I would have loved the logitech illuminated, I see it as my ideal kb but this is good enough that I don't really mind.

I also had no idea there was a layer of plastic film covering the whole thing, just removed it and it looks even shinier than before! I thought I had scratched it but it was just a scratch on the film...bit worried now though as I have two young nephews who like to play with my pc lol.

I realize this is a old thread but I don't think anything similar to this kb has come out since so this would still be the wireless kb to get.

One thing I have noticed is the return key is on the small side, and when typing in parts of web addresses to quickly access them in the drop down list I hit the delete key a lot by mistake. Which of course deletes the website from the list, I'm slowly getting used to the return key.

I also think the FN thing is a pretty mediocre replacement for proper shortcut keys, pressing FN + another key doesn't feel that intuitive to me and its unlikely I'll map the locations of the shortcuts.

I thoroughly reccomend buying this keyboard!

Return key hasn't really bothered me at all, in fact I never realised until you mentioned it!

The battery will slowly charge even at 200lux but if you open your curtains when at work or whatever it will be fine and never rund ry. I'm at 99% right now and my blinds are partially closed when I'm not home.

I'm a bit worried about the battery life of my k750.

On a day like this, I get about 80 lux from outside light from a window...I'm starting to think I don't have the right conditions for this keyboard.

Yesterday which was sunny I got about 150 lux...is that considered "good"?

My indoor lights are useless with this keyboard, my ceiling lights don't register and my desk lamp might as well not exist. I also thought it would get some light from being in front of my monitor...but it does not.

It went down to 98% battery yesterday, I thought it would still be at 100%...had it for a week now. Its now back to 99% but I seriously thought it wouldn't budge from 100% after only one week.

I think I will turn the kb off at night from now on and see if that helps. I really like this keyboard but I'm not too sure if my room has the right light levels for prolonged use.

Got myself one of these a few weeks back.

Have loved my MS comfort Curve 2000 for ages. So comfy and great to type on, but just wanted something fancier.

Learned that spending more doens't always mean getting better product. The CC 2000 costs like £12 or something, and tried some other more expensive keyboards.

Tried one of the sidewinders, which was just plain awful, and more recently a K350, which was clunky as hell, and often battled getting teh keys pressed when gaming.

Finally got one of these a few weeks back and am in love with it. Love typing on these chiclet style keyboards, and it's been brilliant for gaming for me.

Doesn't hurt that it looks lovely too.

Hope it lasts for donkeys years as I really don't look forward to the day I have to start trying to find a keyboard I like again - like finding a mouse I like, just painful.

Hmm, how have I not seen this before.

Got one myself, been using it for about a year now. Absolutely 0 wear on the keyboard keys, still as crisp and sharp as the day I got it, even though it does have some notable levels of grime on it in some places...

Year on and the battery life is still insane. I must admit I don't bother having the solar app installed as I don't really see the point. Very comfy and easy to type on for extended durations of time, and absolutely 0 lag, well very little, so I've had no issues with it for gaming. I did manage to drop it the other day, and managed to scrape a bit of the white plastic which was a bit of a pain. Also broke one of the feet. Thankfully Logitech sell the feet for £2. I actually got some for free off of Customer Services, but the fact that they even sell the feet is a very nice feature.

Considering buying a second tbh just in case these are discontinued at some point.

Dropping 2% is absolutely nothing to be concerned about. It will charge itself during the day anyway even at 150 lux.

Nice review! I wouldn't mind a new keyboard. My current one is massive and not wireless! Not sure it is the keyboard for me though. But its been useful :)
