And of course I'm using the underground in London, it's one of the main transport methods isn't it? I didn't realise using the tube relegated me talking about my experience to "nonsense" tier.

I get that there's a discrimination here perhaps, but wouldn't this be like saying "yeah living the country is bad for hay-fever but it's the fields around that do it"?

Lived here forever and never even heard someone talk about having black lines or dirt and dust in their nose. I’m on the undergeound regularly every week as well.

depends where you live - as they said on the ulez discussion the people who pollute the most live in the less dense areas, and, driving HEPA equipped vehicles,
and sit in traffic jams along the streets where the prols live close by

The air quality in London is better now than it has been since pretty much the start of the Industrial Revolution. Places like Delhi and Beijing though, yikes!

I did a motorcycle courier job (for one day) in London and when I came home my face was black, and that was through a motorcycle helmet.

That was, hmmmmmm, 20 years ago though.

I grew up in London but moved out around 2008 and I live in the middle of nowhere no, cannot say I really notice any difference other than being on the tube trains, you can actually see the **** in the air down there.

~20 years ago I moved to London for a few years and most years as a kid I'd spent at least a couple of weeks there and while not an every day thing finding collar, cuffs and phlegm black wasn't completely uncommon after a day out and about towards the more central areas (depending I expect on time of year and where you went, etc. I can't really remember specifics now).
