Long time no see. Upgrade time.

Thanks !

I went digging earlier looking for the DDC mount for the case. Strange thing happened. The small one slots into the floor of the case. I know this 'cause I removed it because it looked gash just sat there. the other one appears to mount above it on the "rails". Very odd they give you two. Even stranger is the fact the larger one is alu, smaller one steel.

So this is the ten pound flow meter.

My mesh grilles came.

With adhesive strips it seems.

Funny how a £35 rad comes with these.

But a £100 one doesn't lol.

Yeah there is only one on each end. Odd.

Here this shows it better. The hole in the floor is from the smaller one.

The larger one with the thumb screws should screw into the rail where the PSU shroud sits. Very odd !

You sure you didn't buy £35 worth of rad gaskets that came with a free rad?!

Sorry, missed the shout-out. Can probably mill it if necessary but it would be preferable if they can give you details of what, where and how much. Otherwise it's a case of trying to work out what interferes whilst not being able to see in - you're down to transfer compounds like blutac (for impressions - or lack thereof) or Stuart's Micrometer Blue for transferring a thin layer of non-drying 'paint'. Get the tube not the tin if you buy any of the latter!

It’s not a part problem. IE a component issue being in the wrong place. It’s not the block they say I need to machine but the billet cover.

I’ve mailed you a link to the thread I made here.

I am growing in confidence that this isn’t a 6900XT or 6950XT difference problem. I reckon Bitspower fluffed up the design and it may, where they want me to machine it, foul the PCIE slot on a motherboard. IE it stops you pushing the whole card into the slot.

So yea, a clearance issue rather than any big serious issue.

This was their first time like EK making this type of like, hyper car type CPU block and I think they got carried away :D

Whichever way you shake it that’s a £400 block with £100 fed ex on it for £220. If I have to make you angry at me for a short time and send me to Coventry it just may be worth it :D

I certainly ain’t going at it with a belt file lmfao.

And this is why I love Bitspower.

If I order from a certain water cooling website (NOT OCUK !!) it takes longer from the UK.

Start the coal loading boys, the hype train is about to take off !

BTW @Cenedd remember when we first met (when I was doing Dianoga, the silver and green Alienware) and I had 3mm fail? which we laughed about (IE forgetting to take the thickness of the acrylic into account?)

I reckon Bitspower had 3mm fail too lmao.

As I'm sure I said at the time....a mistake that any halfwit could have made! To be fair, I'm usually saying this about myself :D

Only problem I can see is that for at least the next 48 hours, you're vulnerable to all the "Your Fedex parcel is stuck at customs and needs you to click here to fill in the correct form" scam emails. Might even send you some myself! ;-) :-p

You know me. I’ll just tell you to F off.

My hoarding knows no bounds.

I hate PWM. The rig spins up the fans to full whack and then they stay there. I’ve tried to find software etc but I just can’t get my head around it.

So I figured I’d buy a fan controller with voltage control. Which led me to Aquacomputer and eventually the Aquaaero.

I’m then thinking “that looks awful familiar” and “I could swear I have one of those!”

Turns out I did. Opened a drawer and there was a 5 LT looking back at me ffs.

So that’s that sorted :D

A 5LT will do one channel of PWM on the FAN4 connector (ignore the headers labelled PWM, they're not fan related and somewhat of a red herring). Just in case you need any PWM. All headers can do voltage control. Depending on the fans, you sometimes find that you can spin them slower (without them grinding to a halt) with PWM - if that's even necessary.
The great thing about an Aquaero is that it's self-sufficient. For example, if your disks lose the will to live and Windows has thrown itself off this moral coil....at least all your cooling will carry on running properly while it's borked and during the eventual reinstall. No prizes for guessing how I know this! :D

You can run up to 20W off each channel so depending what pump you're running, you may well be able to connect the pump directly and have independant control of it as well as alarming if it fails.

Nah it should be easy tbh. I have a way around the filing now. It is called "actually measure the thickness of the piece, put 2mm of card under it and just machine all the way through".

There is a space in the bottom of the machine you see. Bottom right.

I need to make some angled risers that the fan screws into. I was supposed to do it before, as I have one of these.

the fan on the cooler there. The other side looks like this. Black obs, but I can't find any other pics and I haven't taken one of it yet.

SBQ82U8.jpg

So yeah, beautiful tbh. It will also cool the pump which is nice, and, bring some air in through the bottom which is all vented. That is why there is a hole there where I removed the DDC mount, as I was always intending to fit that fan. I didn't though :D

So I will build the pump, res and etc from that fan.

They literally ship things at blazing speed once it's all confirmed! I love them for that too!

Yup.

Yeah I bought it. @Cenedd is a master with a mill and lathe.

I don’t think it will come to that but if it does then yeah…..

TBH that block was 90% of the reason I can be bothered with the ball ache of water cooling again. I mostly just buy AIO cooled GPUs now. Last three before the 6950 were all AIO cooled (2080ti kingpin on loan to a friend, 6800XT Strix LC and a 6900XT Toxic)

I just want it quiet. Especially now I’m back on speakers it’s doing my head in.

Seems like i need to talk to the master for some future milling jobs!

I've been tempted a few times like yourself but i always go back to custom cooling, it's just too fun not to even if it's a complete pain in the arse sometimes.

I hope there's a Kingpin card from PNY next year because i want one!
Same, i love quiet and being a speaker user it matters a lot. One of the main reasons for getting a MORA as well.

OK small update. Block should arrive tomorrow, providing the delivery guy doesn't have to swim here. It has rained all day.

All I can say is thank GOD I bought my NUC Extreme. These are the days where I would be without a PC for god knows how long. Going to order some stuffs from OCUK in the morning. Coolant etc.

I had to change the design of the pump holder. It won't fit on top of the fan in the floor, as the TEC sub ambient cooler I use on the CPU has a pump and it is a pain. It has now been relocated to the bottom, but that means I need to make a "floating" pump holder that is 90'. EK make one for £13.99, but it is fugly as. I don't have the pump and top to get the sizes yet, but I started designing the bit that will hold the upright. It will then have a floor coming out off of it.

HpI99s2.png

It is designed to go between the bottom fan and the one above. I need to add curves, and then design the "floor" of it and braces to be welded on. Tell you what, this was the best thing I think I ever bought. Been using it again lately.

2xGRn3Y.jpg

I even bought a wee laptop which allows me to sit in front of it and fully control it without running back and forth to the PC.
