Lost Season 5 (Sunday, Sky1, 9PM)

They'll run out of coke from the crashed plane soon and be on the downer of the century to find out that the hobbit is still alive and annoying as ever.

Anyone else think that the bomb doesn't actually go off and the white light is a time jump to the present? As miles dad is alive after all this happens due to him having a prosthetic hand in one of those dharma videos.

Am I the only one that doesn't actually like jack?

I doubt it, but personally I think he's ok.

Rose and Bernaaaard however, I just can't stomach. God damn they're so smug, and their lines are pure cheese. "So we die. We just care about being together". SO DIE THEN, HIPPIES.

OK, now that everyone's on the same page, I've got a few points.

The guy in the first scene with Jacob. It seems pretty much a given that they are both in some kind of power-struggle, and the most popular theory seems to be that he was imprisoned in the lodge thing but that somehow he is able to take over the body of dead people, as he has appeared to with Locke. Although his body is still there. It also seems to be that he was Christian and manipulated Locke to die away from the island - but we also see both Christian and "new Locke" together in the series at several points, which seems a bit odd.

Also, we've not seen much of Claire, does she still have a part to play?

The biggest question for me is, how the hell did she survive that fall? Surely she should have been splattered at the bottom

That guy at the start has to be in lock's body, and also in jacks dads body to.

I also can't see jacob dead, i think he knows exactly what he is doing. I mean, the last few series has talked about the big almighty jacob, this last episode showed him off as some high and mighty clever guy. Only to get stabbed to death by Ben? I DONT THINK SO!. Why do you think he touched everybody ?

Claire and that young kid must have some other parts to play as well.

Just realised that "the man" has been doing his "posses a dead person's body" trick all throughout the Lost series - since the beginning in fact.

all those times the losties saw their dead family (Jack's dad etc) it was him.

I reckon the nuke and the weird electro-magnetic "pocket" cancel each other out somehow, or react together (hence the white flashes), and thus the Dharma people discover it as the way to stop it from going crazy. Thus, they construct the station on top of it, and do the whole numbers thing, which release some sort of nuke energy into the pocket.

Also, here's something interesting from a couple of episodes back: Richard gives his compass to Locke when he gets the bullet out. Locke gives it back to Richard when he meets him in a different time. Thus, the compass is stuck in some sort of crazy time loop.

That can do anything in Lost of course but the way I see it is, with the season just gone they have pretty much covered all of the backstory which has been mentioned in previous series, i.e. the origin of the Dharma Initiative and the hatches, how the others took over, what Ben has been up to and what motivated him, probably where Richard came from (Black Rock is my theory), and the time travel ability of the island. The only things which are proper unexplained is the statue and the thing with children on the island, though on some of the Lost sites they have linked those together as the statue is very similar to some real life statue to do with a pagan god of motherhood or something. This along with Jacobs "They're coming" statement suggest to me that the next and final season with have no "backstory" or "how did we get here" type elements as such, whoever "they" are will turn up and it will end up being a basic save the world scenario. I am just hoping it is not something as derivative as aliens. I could deal with something religious, like gods or something, as long as its not aliens.

edit: Oh, and my prediction for what effect the bomb will have had for the beginning of next season is that it won't have reset them back to everything before they even got on the plane, I think it will simply jump Kate, Jack, Sayid etc 30 years into the future so that they are on the island in the same timeframe as Locke and the rest. This would negate the need for any time consuming efforts to get back to the island again, as I'm sure they would be driven to do by some revelation. Alternatively they could reset back to the time before they got on the plane, but would retain all their memories of the time spent on the island, and again by some revelation they all have to get back to the island again. Depends how many episodes they want to take up before the final proper explanations begin.

So Bens daughter who appeared to him down in the "monsters lair" was probably that guy then too?

Maybe he is also the black smoke? Speculation makes me sad because we are probably al wrong.

Quite possibly, yeah. He couldn't kill Jacob himself, and he knew he couldn't possibly persuade Ben to kill him without a reason, so coming back as his daughter and instructing him to listen to the 'fake' Locke makes sense.

Edit: For some reason, I seem to think it will end how it started. So, Jack wakes up in the jungle again. Don't ask why. :p

I think Hurley is going to play a big part next season as It seems Jacob finds him quite important. Most popular rumour going around is that Jacob has forseen his death hence making sure the losties get back to the island to sort everything out.

Can't believe there's an 8 month wait
