Lost Season 5 (Sunday, Sky1, 9PM)

What rubbish. So if the Island is constantly moving how the hell did Dharma use a submarine to travel to and fro.

What do you think half of the stations are for ? The Swan (see: hatch) was almost certainly acting as an anchor for the island's position. With The Lamp Post also, should they ever have lost the island they would have found it again eventually.

Lost was my ultimate favourite show, up until season 5. Season 1 was nothing short of brilliant, with how mysterious everything was. You really felt as if you were there, with the characters, going through the confusion of everything. Season 2, 3 and 4 were pretty damn good, maintaining that sense of mystery. What have they done now though? :(

They shouldn't have made it three years since they went back, etc. Also, the whole Sawyer, Juliet et al staying with Dharma has kind of wrecked it for me too, for some reason. As well as the time travelling, which I won't bother going into.

I bet we won't see scenes like this again:

Season 1 > all

:(

Fair enough mate, but imo lost is so good! The music is great, so suitable for the scenes. The acting is awesome, the plot has developed so well, its just silly yet i still believe it and enjoy it. Its so different to any other program out there. I dont know why but i just love the story!

^^^^^^^^ Best scene of all.

Season 1 > all

Overall, maybe (I used to like the way the flashbacks were essentially a self-contained story which resolved within an episode). However, the high point for me was the end of Season 3, in the final five minutes, where we found out Jack's flashback was in fact a flash forward. Best televisual moment evar.

Season 1 sucked. So many people I know gave up watching it after that. I think it has only got better since (With a few blips) Finally we're starting to get to the point where there aren't any filler episodes. Been much more exciting this series.

Exactly, people who watched Lost and enjoyed it obviously enjoyed the mysterious elements of it, and the fact is the time travel aspect isn't unique to season. The hints towards it have been going on since season 2 and I know that I would prefer to see all of the clever time lapses and paradoxes and even more strange goings on then to just see them off the island and end it there.

I don't know, it seems it has reached the point where it has lost ;) all of the mysterious elements of it.

I loved how the first season had us all thinking it was a just another generic 'stranded on tropical island' type programme, but then it started opening up, completely different to any other kind of show. It was at least realistic, to a degree (well, a whole lot more than it is now). Just seems the writers are trying to shove as many unrealistic things into the show now as they can.

Your sig reminded me of my super old one. :D

I think apart from Season 1 pilot episodes, Season 4 was the best. Utter brilliance throughout. However that's not to say that the other seasons weren't excellent as well :)

Season 5 has not disappointed me so far, however people say that Lost is confusing; Lost hasn't been confusing for me until this season. It's totally mind blowing! :D

Thanks for the clip btw G-MAN2004. One of the best scenes in the entire thing

I don't know wasn't as keen on it myself, apart from the ending obviously.

Having Locke just give up on life and the island though seemed so out of character.
You can totally understand his reasoning though. He is off the island on a mission to get everyone back on. Everyone rejects him, especially Kate who gives some very deep cutting comments. He has no one that cares for him in the real world. Loneliness is probably the #1 reason for suicidal thoughts.

And as for Ben Vs Witmore, I think Ben is the bad guy. He only needed John to find out what was needed to be done next and to get back to the island. Remember, Ben also wants the island for himself. (Spoiler warning) In episode 8, we find out that Ben wasn't teleported like the Oceanic 6 and is very badly injured in the crash. I think it was probably the Island's intention to kill Ben.

Like who Richard Alpert is / his origins. Who Jacob is / his origins. What the smoke monster is / it's origins. What the whispers are, echos, some omnipresent observers?. The actual (although there are a few likely) meaning behind the numbers and their sum. Who was behind the Dharma initiative?. The apparitions of the dead or living people from peoples past. How did the black rock come to be so far inland, who came in on the black rock, does it have any relation to the others?.

Just a few I could think of from the top of my head whilst making this post, i'm sure there is a hell of a lot more.

Ah I actually vaguely remember that sig from ages ago! Maybe before my current OCUK account! :p

LOST is the best thing on TV. I dunno how much of the series was planned from the word go but I wished it hadn't gone down the time travel route.

I knew once we saw the smoke monster that the series wouldn't any longer be explained by believable science which I thought it was originally going to be. While I love the smoke monster I just wished it could be a lot more believable.
I think because of its scfi like plot I believe thats why its nothing near as good as it was in the first series.
First series
coming together,
first instint,
survival,
mysteries,
urgency...

Only because Dexter isn't on at the moment. ;)

It's WAY better than the likes of Heroes and I enjoy it a tad more than 24 because of the mystery element, I think the first season was the best though as landing on that mysterious island with all the events unravelling was pretty exciting.

It's still good now though!

Couldn't agree more. First season was simply awesome, but don't get me wrong I've loved every season so far.

I think two of the best moments for me were when we saw the barracks on the island in the first five minutes of s3e1 and also the end of season 3 where we found out that it was a flash forward.
