LOTRO free to play going ahead.

Anyway, does anyone know how much Moria and Mirkwood expansions are in the lotro store as, you can't see prices for stuff you already have. I'm guessing next one will cost similar to what Mirkwood costs now?

Can't work out whats worth buying with points, I've got loads, though bit of a scam we don't get old deed's points applied, as I'd have a ridiculous amount of points.

Thats probably why old deeds dont get points applied, imagine someone with 9 maxed out characters who has been playing since day one, they would end up with several hundred thousand points, would make the points a bit..pointless :)

Not sure how much Moria/Mirkwood are, I thought I heard someone say 1500 or 2500, something like that. However those arent "brand new" expansions, so I would expect a fresh newly released one to be higher, maybe 3500 or 4000 or something I guess.

Nothing I need on the store so just keeping my points for expansions.

Just fired up Monster Play for the first time.. utterly bewildered as to what to do!

Picked up a load of quests and now I'm just running around a big empty place by the looks of things..

The Lonelands zone/quests is currently on sale for 50turbine points! Really cheap.

Also Moria is ~2500 and Mirkwood ~2000 I believe. From what Isengard is adding, unless the area is HUGE and the monster play additions significant, I doubt that it would be over 2500 points which is about £22 unless they want to make it slightly more to tempt people to buy the 5000point bundle which is about £37.

From what I've read its 3 zones, (Dunland, Gap of Rohan and Isengard) so hopefully it will be a decent size, certainly sounds larger than SoM was. 4 Zones if you include the new MP zone I suppose. 2500-3000 sounds alright, mind you god knows how many points us VIPs will have by then, if we are talking a year away then thats er..what... (6000 extra points between now and then for free just for having VIP, should mean that every VIP player will be able to get the expansion for nothing, which is nice, I'd imagine most VIP players will have upwards of 20,000 points by then.)

  • Take your time and do all the quests in an area (subject to your level).
  • Don't be tempted to buy any armour/weapons from vendors; you don't need them, and you will out-level them quickly.
  • Try to learn what what all your skills do; read the descriptions and try them out - watch what they do. At early levels, skills will come thick and fast. If you take time to learn them as you get them you will better understand your character, and be a better player for it.
  • If you plan to craft (and you should), pick one carefully and keep it around your level. It might seem like a chore -but trust me - it is no fun having to go back and gather the craft resources you ignored as you were levelling in the area the first time around.
  • There is an advice channel "/advice"; use it. There are no stupid questions, only stupid mistakes :p
  • Stop and look around; it's a lovely place :)

  • Have fun.

Yup there is way WAY more chat going on in globallff (due to being a channel with anything from 500-1000 people in it usually) , its a preference thing of course but I find it makes things a little more interesting than playing in near silence all the time. (plus its the best way I've found of getting groups when needed)

Are you sure globallff is that populated, the game is telling me there's 2 players in that channel.

Absolutely positive, I've not seen less than a few hundred in there at any time (except when the server has just come back up)

Are you sure you have spelled it correctly? globallff not globalff ?

(this is Laurelin server btw, as Gman says above the channel might be named differently on your server)

I want to have a go on this but it has been a right hassle.

Go to register account - email address has already been used.
Go through recovery process. Download client.
Wrong client downloaded the US one.
Go to register EU account. Username too short, password too long. Blah Blah.
Finally make an account that I'll never remember the info for.
Start downloading client. PC reboots for some reason during download.
Restart client downloader, can I resume? No have to start from scratch.
Start downloading client again.

Not sure that it's meant to be.
