LOTRO free to play going ahead.

Once minstrels hit level 10 (I think it's 10 anyway) they get a skill called warspeech, which cripples their healing and turns them into an offensive caster, so they can solo really well.

How used to mmos is your girlfriend? Warden might put her off if she's new, it's a bit fiddly to get the hang of. Captain is another one that starts off nice and easy and gradually gets complex and versatile.

Or you could just play two hunters and dps the crap out of everything :)

Thanks for your replies.

She's never played before, I'm trying to tempt her into playing because I think she will enjoy it but its fairly outside her comfort zone!

From what you've said it might be a good idea for me to offload my hunter onto her, as that's fairly simple to play, and do something more complex myself.

Guardian is fairly robust, can take a LOT of damage, and dish a bit out to.. although it's melee based, and I'm not tooo keen on LoTRO's take on melee combat, in other games I've played even if I'm not facing the target, I can still hit it.. in LoTRO... no chance, your target has to be infront of you.. if it isn't you can't even attack it..

I generally play Hunters/Rangers/Ranged, and in LoTRO they have the added benefit of being able to port (themselves and their fellowship) to several useful locations.

If you're doing Free 2 Play. I do suggest doing various deeds just to get TP, and start getting the various quest packs, they are often on sale at discounted prices. If you can get all your toons to lvl 20, and buy 1 month of VIP access, this unlocks your gold cap, all the bags, trait slots and riding skill. Which if brought using TP would cost you more than the 1 month VIP will.

Haven't managed to play this week (had a drive failure on monday)

Reinstalled overnight so should be on over the weekend, up to lvl 20 now so if theres anyone around the same lvl who wants nail a few levels let me know

I've got a level 23 captain so I'd be up for that. Not started LL yet, still finishing off a bunch of quests (mostly repeatables) in the Barrow Downs.

Sounds good, my ingame char is Rukkia (lvl 20 LoreMaster)

On a different note, whats the quickest way to build my craft skills, i can seem to find many ages scraps of texts!

In terms of scholar, you only get those drops off humanoid creatures I think. In the shire either goblins or Brigands are the best to farm whereas in Ered Luin you've got the Dourhand fort or the various goblin forts scattered about. Bree is a bit of everywhere really, though I think one of the best places is the southern fort, the one blocking the road South to the south west of Bree.

What are your three professions?

For scholar I make sure i save every scholar drop i get on any of my other characters. Even if you don't end up needing it you can usually sell it for a fair amount. Buy every extra recipe you can find at reasonable prices on AH. Some of the recipes don't require the rarest items (which can only usually be found in decent quantities from nodes) and don't forget to collect any dye items you come accross on your travels as these can give you points and don't need the likes of aged scrap of text. Periodically check the AH to see if anyone has put any drops on at BMV.

For the first level my best circuit was in the midgewater marshes. There are ruins at the north, west, and south and centre with nodes in and the goblins in the marshes drop scholar items. Do a circuit or so, then go do something else and come back later.

If you intend on levelling a tailor, give them a profession with scholar in first while you are on the lower areas, then switch to tailor later. (as hides are all drops not nodes you can just save them up for processing)

Scholar is really ideal for someone who levels up a few characters at once (which was me). Otherwise it's a pain to farm mats, especially at higher levels. It's a great craft skill to have though - dyes, potions, hunter and warden oils, books for hunters, loremasters and minstrels.

As mentioned above though, dyes can really give you a boost, keep your spot plants skill up whenever you're not near ruins.

you can make a lot of money with scholar as you rightly say with all the oils and dyes, probably second only to jeweller and cook I would guess? my scholar is my 7th char (only 2 @ 65) and I've saved all the mats from other chars so it's helped to a significant degree, though I've been stuck with not enough faded sindarin passages for a while (not any more though).

I'd be up for that too. Level 17 Hunter atm, so a little low but if you could do with some ranged dps my name's Chilfaman :)

Edit: Level 19 now (I need a job!) and im in Barrow downs with 2 fellowship quests to do.

Just been to turbine to log in and it wont accept my email address? whats going on?

yes it is, contacted them just now

Seems very strange, surely someone would have needed access to my email account as well as my turbine account for this?
