LOTRO free to play going ahead.

I could do with an invite to the Kinship if at all possible, also, i could also do with a Fellowship for the Great Barrows and the Southern Barrow-downs, Haudh instances as well.

I only need a Minstrel, Guardian and a Champion, i managed to take 2-3 mobs at a time, so a full group isn't really necessary.

I'm not in the same Kinship as most of the OC players here (on Laurelin) however I'm always happy to group up if anyone feels the need. I have a variety of characters from level 25 up to my recently resurrected Loremaster at level 60 (bored in Lothlorien).

You can try me on Carathir, Karathaz, Carathas or Carathys or just give me a shout here.

I’ve got a lvl 23 character I’m tempted to start playing again, but at the moment he still quests in & around Bree.
For me Bree is probably the most soulless location in an MMO I can remember, combine it with the string music that a 5 year old could play and it’s a bit of a enjoyment killer.

Do the locations get more atmospheric as you progress through the game?

I’m currently playing and enjoying Rift, so if the rest of LOTRO mimics the atmosphere of Bree then I’ll forget about playing it.

The land around Bree doesn't have a whole lot of character. Head into the Barrow Downs if you haven't already (entrance near adso's camp). Or on to the lone lands (and take a peek beyond to the Trollshaws, though it's too high for you, it's gorgeous).

If you still find those areas bland, then LOTRO isn't for you :)

Funny enough, even though I played Rift obsessively when I got it, I've found myself back in LOTRO lately. Not sure why exactly, Rift has a lot going for it, but I just don't feel the urge to play it anymore.

I'm level 30 now, all i need is the Heading West quest in the Sambrog Instance and i've done Bree-Land, nearly done all of the Lone-Lands as well.

Keep thinking i should start playing again but have only logged on for about an hour since Christmas, most of my friends in my kin left or joined other kins. I don't suppose they started letting you use turbine points to pay for character transfers did they? Wouldn't mind taking a look at another server with my max characters but don't want to splash any cash but i have over 10K of points now i think, I think the only thing i purchased with them was a tool for one of my alts

Each to their own, I'm currently loving Rift and don't feel the urge to go back to LOTRO one bit despite it being my favourite MMO of all time and I've played most of them ;)

The areas around bree are ok, I get thet rolling peaceful countryside they are trying to portray. It is Bree itself that I really dislike.

What are Mirkwood and Moria like for atmosphere?

Mirkwood and Moria have brilliant atmosphere, dark, brooding and moody, you can almost feel the claustrophobia and dripping water. Having said that, due to that they are cloying, depressing areas and you long for the sunshine and are happy to break free of them when you reach there end, on the other hand, thats precisely how it should feel I suppose.

Mirkwood was bleedin awesome imo.

I prefer the Hobbit and Dwarf starter zones for a little better 'story' and more atmosphere initially. You obviously cant avoid Bree-Land totally but things get dramatically better from there.

They did a bloody fantastic job with Moria. They're really only limited by the lighting, which is a bit rubbish in the game generally and doesn't really do the whole 'long dark of Moria' justice at all.

But designwise, it's the most amazing, and longest, dungeon you'll ever see.

That's a general complaint of mine in mmos today, I swear that "night" is getting lighter and lighter in mmos and its so bright when its supposed to be dark in mmos now that its rather cack. Would love to go back to the days where mmos were dark when supposed to be and you needed a torch or light spell or some racial ability like infravision or something to see. Always felt that added a lot to the mmos I played with them in.

There is one thing about this game that i dislike, how hard it is to get a fellowship going or to join a fellowship that's doing a similar quest as you, i'm getting rather irritated leaving quests behind because of this.
