LOTRO free to play going ahead.

See im looking at my screenshots and they do look bad but ingame its shocking it looks so bad like im on low :/ ill just wait a few hours

Just leave the launcher running, I think there are settings on it somewhere to allow background downloads. Wes, jpeg compression might be making my screenies better than if they were full size, but I dunno about the view distance. I know the human starter areas are pretty poor looking compared to some of the later areas in the game.

From memory, I think screenshots are stored in a lord of the rings online folder in your My Documents.

do you have the hires client installed ? they used to have an option when you download the game.

have a look to see if you a file 'client_highres' in the main Lotro folder, should be around 4gig.

LOTRO Problem Still :(

I have a good gaming computer that can run games in max settings
i got amd 7970 i got i5 overclcoekd to 4.5 and 16gb ram

but i just downloaded LOTRO yesturday went on it put graphics to high and they are the worst graphics they look the same as when its on low, so some people said the box that comes up before you log in leave that open for few hours so it can download high texture packs so i did that and still nothing :( its still really bad graphics HELPPPP PLEASE :(

The hi-res installer option doesn't seem to be there anymore. Jaackla have you upped everything in the advanced graphics tab as well at the graphic one, when you hit Esc in-game and choose options?

This is outside the hunting lodge in the Archet starter zone, a very ordinary looking zone. Your game should look like this:

I went back to playing this afternoon, after a break of several months, and I am getting client crash after client crash, amd drivers fails to respond and then recovers.

Vexing.
updated to 13.1 drivers with no change.
Anyone aware of a known issue with the current build as I couldn't find answers on the very slow US forums?

Hi-res client is still there, i downloaded it again a couple of days ago as some things looked off, and the game looks brilliant again - been playing it non-stop the past two days.

Whilst I love LOTRO slowly but surely after each Expansion it gets more expensive to purchase and content is slowly slipping downwards.

Helms Deep Expansion finally what we want but missing a few key elements.

No new instance cluster (they will announce it and make it post expac as per last dev twitter chat they are focusing on helms deep mechanic).

No updates to PvMP (confirmed via twitter as nothing on the horizon).

So in effect we could be paying £27.99 for helms deep alone :P

Hopefully they'll listen more a tad when the player council goes into full swing

They are seriously deluded if they ask for that amount for just Helm's Deep, i mean you can get a whole entire new area such as Rohan for that.

I won't get started on PvMP as it's a mess with the balancing etc.

Hang on, it's the whole second half of Rohan though, isn't it? It's just called Helm's Deep, but that's not all we're getting. That's how it sounds at any rate.

Yes we'll see the rest of Rohan, as well as Edoras etc, but the main feature will be Helms Deep.

I agree with the sentiment that the updates are getting fewer & fewer as the years go by and it's getting more & more expensive too, but that's mostly coming from Warner Brothers now.

I've played for over 6 years now & have 4 x Lv85's in the game, but find it increasingly hard to log in at all, until there's a decent update. Shame really, but they have a good F2P model, but seems little comes back in the way of content updates... they seem to save them now for the expensive Expacs.

Started playing LoTRO during beta, then became a founder when the game was released, and played it fairly solidly for a couple of years. As time's gone on, I've been playing less and less, to the point I've only logged in once since the last expansion was released, and that was only to use my free points to buy said expansion.

Just can't seem to get enthused anymore. Pity.

I got 85 a few weeks ago and quite enjoyed levelling but once you get to the max level there is absolutely nothing to do, there is no end game whatsoever.

Go and PvMP if it's within your tastes, Freeps got buffed in the last patch so they can easily kill any Creep of their fancy (providing the Creeps aren't in a Raid). I have a Rank 6 Warg, and i managed to take down a Rank 9 Minstrel on my own a week or so ago, no idea how i did it due to what i mentioned previously, but it was an epic fight between the two of us.

Contrary to the above post I would say avoid PvMP like the plague, the devs ignore it and so should you, more broken than its ever been before. If you want to RvR go and play just about any other game that offers it.

That aside I have to agree with others, bought the game at launch and loved it, but found my enthusiasm wain over time and I do also agree with it being more expensive for less content these days.
