LOTRO free to play going ahead.

They all solo pretty well, but I've found the minstrel to be seriously op once you get warspeech. I believe wardens can be amazing too, but I can't be arsed remembering combinations :)

Edit - mind you, if you're a minnie that solos his way to the top in warspeech mode, you're going to get shouted at a lot once you have to start healing in instances and raids :)

Downloaded and going to give it a run on Laurelin. I have fond memories of playing a couple of years ago, and being a fan of the lore it was interesting then. Whats the best solo class?

Sithlord.. I meant Runekeeper or Minstrel are probably the most versatile however the Burglar is pretty awesome fun.

I think all my characters are on Snowbourn, which was the original EN server during beta if memory serves. Never did like moving, so I stayed there once the game was released :p

I have tried a hunter when i 1st started and didnt know what i was doing and got to lvl 25 and have a lore master at 63. Might give hunter another try or burglar.

Decided to update the client and dust of my fat dwarfs armour, forgot how much fun it was running around shouting Baruk Khazad & Khazad Ai-Menu ! :p

My friend keeps hassling me to make another kinship. couple years ago we were playing on Gilrain in my current self-made kinship (legacy of heroes) and having a party night, a kin-friend said we should make another called Red Dwarves. The idea has stuck with my friend and he is kind of demanding it to happen.

Just wondering about coming back to this game, I don't want to sub but can I enjoy myself by buying the expansions and not subbing?

Or is there no point in that? I played ages ago when it had just gone free to play and had a good time, just hit a wall around level 20 when I seemed to have reached the end of the free content.

I thought if I bought the expansions I could keep playing, but I'd like to know if the game is enjoyable and what I will miss out on that matters most by not subbing.

I can look at the official website but it doesn't give me a good idea really. Thanks :)

There is no end to the free content until u need to get the expansions, there is just a lot of grinding for points to buy quest packs. Being a lifetimer though I cannot say what you do or don't get with expansions, I know my friend pre-ordered isengard and got the fellowship of the ring quest pack included which means he should be able to get to isengard with a lot less grind.

I'm not too sure if the lotro wiki page is up to date but it has a table showing the benefits for each account type ie V.I.P / Premium / F2P > HERE <

If you purchase some Turbine points I'm sure you become a Premium account permanently, but there's also a decent thread > here < full of updated info.

If you dont want to sub i think you can now gwt the Quad pack of expansions for £29.99 from the offical store. I got the triple pack off steam for £20 a while back

Now you can easily get to L30 via bree and lone-lands which are both free regions. After that you either need to grind deeds to generate enough Turbine points to buy regions or invest cash/subscribe.

What I would recommend is get to L30... Subscribe for 1 month to unlock all your trait slots and get to L50 or so... Once you get to Moria (L50) you can level exclusively by purchasing expansions i.e L50 to L85.

Another option would be to grind skirmishes from the L30 to L50 but you'll be horribly bored. Alternatively, you could just buy the Evendim quest pack which will get you from L30 to L40 after that you could probably grind 6 levels and start moria at L46 which should be ok.

But subscribing for a month is always a good idea as you can unlock all you character trait slots.

My friend is a ****! we have got to level 31 and was going to grind to level 33 with skirms and crafting then head into the trollshaws as he pre-ordered isengard couple years ago and got the fellowship quest bundle plus all expansion. I asked him to check if he has evendim and found out he hasn't even got trollshaws or any expansions so must be playing on a new account. I told him to check Gilrain as that's the server we used to play on and none of his characters are there so he contacts support and gets his old account username and logs in to find his characters are not on gilrain once again and for some reason his account says he only has moria. -.- wasted two weeks gaming levelling with him lol

If your willing to spend some money on the game, then short term subbing is usually the cheapest way to play. Mainly because many of the perma unlocks you get from subbing, would take a large amount of points to obtain. It also gives you access to all content up to the expansions.

So level up of chars to see if you like the game (to L20-30) sub for a month and you get access to all content excluding expansions.
While subbed make sure you create any other chars you want, to enable the perma unlocks for each of them.

Another tip would be to try and pick up a cheap mithril edition of the game. With that you get a mount for all your chars, Trollshaws, Eregion, Mines of Moria, and Lothlórien, and 2000 turbine points.

Playing this again, mainly Monsterplay, although i do have my Hobbit Guardian at level 23.

Warg is called Andraiz if you're on Snowbourn.
