It's being reported on other forums that Lotus are asking that all deposits are placed directly with them on the website and that dealers will be in touch to refund. They will make sure that the queue position that you have with the dealer will be matched on the deposit placed on their website.

Called my dealer earlier and he suggested I wait until Monday when he should have better guidance from Lotus.

Lotus are also renegotiating dealer contracts at the moment and a number of the more well known dealers will not be continuing with Lotus so this also stops any issues with dealers taking money and not being part of Lotus when it comes to transferring the money.

That part is a shame as I think some of the well known "specialist" dealers will drop off :/

Mostly it just means you won't get the official stamp in the book at service time, but I don't think many care about that if it's been to one of these places. What you don't want to do is take these cars to any old garage, even for MOTs.

Are lotus taking deposits then using that money to build the cars before they are delivered? thats why they want all the money themselves rather than dealers keeping it. Sounds like something mclaren, british leyland or rover would do. Why do british car companies also have to be so dodgy and messed up with their finances. :(

It's some kind of image re-brand. They want to appeal to people in Chelsea who usually buy Porsches, rather than petrolheads and racers

They don't want those customers walking in to a Lotus garage and it full of oily mechanics, racing cars and classics. Which is mostly how it is now. Even though we know that is usually a good sign :p

I’m no expert but I don’t think accounting rules will allow them to do that.

Dealers don’t get to “keep” the money either. The one I dealt with made it clear that all deposit money in held in a special account that they can’t spend from.

are yes, they might even see a dirty peasant with an elan or something worth less than £20K and have to go take a shower. :D

Lovely looking cars and very quick. Nice color also

Yeah my mate ordered one at Goodwood and he said in the flesh the car looks even better and interior is really nice.
For myself on paper it does not need to be very quick, but it does need to feel quick, to me the latter is more important as that equals grin factor. I've driven some seriously fast cars on the road which just left me feeling numb and none interested in owning.

Might be worth bearing in mind that the star Emira show car at Goodwood – the blue one – had wheel spacers and was lowered to make it look a bit more aggressive.

I think the others ones on display were all normal, though, but I didn't get a look myself.

Mind you, those will probably be among the first mods you do... :D

one of the best looking ferraris in recent years

I see a lot of 812 and 488 in it, 812 front and 488 side profile and shrunk a little overall it is a better looking car.

It’s a shame you can’t option orange or even bright red though presently. Orange would be amazing and my choice but think I’m gonna go green and silver wheels.
