Editorial stance
In the late 1960s, the paper went through a phase of being liberal on social issues like corporal punishment,[citation needed] but soon returned to its traditional conservative line. The Mail has always traditionally been a supporter of the Conservatives and has endorsed this party in all recent general elections.

The paper is generally critical of the BBC, which it says is biased to the left.[52] The Mail has also opposed the growing of genetically modified crops in the United Kingdom.[53]

On international affairs, the Mail broke with the establishment media consensus over the 2008 South Ossetia war between Russia and Georgia. The Mail accused the British government of dragging Britain into an unnecessary confrontation with Russia and of hypocrisy regarding its protests over Russian recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia's independence, citing the British government's own recognition of Kosovo's independence from Russia's ally Serbia.[54]

Melanie Phillips, once known for her journalism at The Guardian, moved to the right in the 1990s and wrote for the Daily Mail, covering political and social issues from a conservative perspective. She has defined herself as a liberal who has "been mugged by reality".[55] Phillips' Monday column in the Mail ended in September 2013.[56]

I love how terms like racist, homephobe, xenophobe etc are essentially just thrown around these days as a default 'I don't agree with you so I will throw around a derogatory term incorrectly so that other ignorant people will also turn against you'

Yeah it's almost like discriminating against people raised in different countries or of a different sexuality warrants these terms or something.

You do realise that they have reduced immigration by significantly more than UKIP planned to in their 2010 manifesto right?

And this government has listened to the public more than any other in history, hence why the left media repeatedly berates them for making U-turns (whereas the previous government simply ignored public opinion).

Of course they should. 3.1% and no seats. That's two very good reasons for dismissing them. In the context of UK politics they're just an amusing irrelevance.

Churchill would have been arrested for it too, if he'd done it today and someone complained loudly enough.

Note that Weston was initially detained after failing to move on (in breach of a dispersal order). Following a 40 minute discussion with the police he was arrested on suspicion of religious or racial harassment and released on the same night.

Watson craves publicity, and this stunt was deliberately calculated to deliver it.
 
This thread needs to die. With it being constantly bumped to the top, there is a higher chance people will vote for this joke of a party through subliminal marketing. Is there any evidence this thread is being artificially bumped?

UKIP should never be in a position of power. Glorified salesman at the helm with no substance, nor history, to back up his claims? No thanks.

I don't know whats actually worse, the prospect of having ed milliband as the next prime minister, with ed balls managing the countries finances, or having nigel farage in any sort of role were he gets to make decisions past ordering a pint or a shot.

I'm genuinely worried how easily some people are sucked into what UKIP say, which is just orchestrated based on popular opinion. Its dangerous as they have no real policies or manifesto and have a history rife with racism and bigotry.
