LOW FPS?

Well there you go then, the upgrade install usually keeps some old stuff from the previous Windows, it's best to do a custom install as this will wipe out all the junk on the harddrive and install fresh. Make sure to back everything up, as this install will delete everything.

ok, thanks for the help. :)

if its similar chipset you may of got away with it but as said above its best if poss to start afresh

however i would be tempted to mess with driver profiles and settings first especially if you dont have pronlems elsewhwere.

I formatted my HDD in the end cause I had nothing to lose on it really, then I done a clean install of windows and everything's going ok for now! Windows is updating atm it's taking forever. After thats done ill install the drivers for my HD 7850, then try Fallout again.

Also I noticed theres an exclamation mark by 'Intel HD 4000 graphics' in device manager. I found out I wont be able to update that because I have vista....could that have been the problem all along? Ive only just checked and noticed it! Theres also an exlamation mark by 'Standard VGA graphics adapter'.

You need to install all the drivers first, including motherboard and graphics drivers before Windows updates. That's why you have the exclamation marks. You're getting the order wrong :p.

HD 4000 drivers (32/64bit): http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/highlights/graphics/cp3-hd4000

AMD drivers (32bit): http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_vista32.aspx

AMD drivers (64bit): http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonaiw_vista64.aspx

I got it working after work today, but there's another driver with an exclamation mark by it which is called 'Video controller' in device manager. windows tried searching for the driver but couldnt find it.

Then maybe try installing it. I'm throwing random guesses at the moment of what the video controller could be. The HD 4000 and the 7870 appears under display adapters right?

Well then it sounds like the HD 4000 drivers aren't installed properly. Can you check in the BIOS to ensure it's enabled?
