M6 Toll Closed by armed police

Meh ive never posted in motors and never will again :( move this back to GD !

I hope it turns out to be something major, in an odd kind of way, as it was stopped.

If it is a pot noodle type flask of soup i will laugh my socks off.

You can tell the difference between steam and smoke though, steam is odourless and smoke usually carries a thicker texture / plume and is more often than not carries an aroma with it.

All goes out the window, when someone's got a pre conceived idea.

I drive an awful lot, in the region of 30k/pa.

This sort of police over exaggeration seems to me to be one of the major problems with a lot of the motorway congestion and delays that i see on an almost daily basis. Obviously an operation on this scale is unusual, but the comment above about the road being closed due to a tyre in lane 1 unfortunately strikes true with me. I get absolutely no sense of urgency at all when watching the police and highways agency operate. They have no sense of urgency at all. It’s an absolute farce a lot of the time when you look at the sheer scale of delays (and therefore cost) that they can cause for the sake of a single persons very slight safety benefit of being shielded by a highways agency 4x4 blocking a lane.

lol at "over exaggeration" *facepalm*. A) you cant and B) its a possible terrorist attack that could kill 1000's, stuff your lorry and delay in a traffic jam.

This sort of operation is obviously unusual, its hard to comment about this one directly. However the comments by the poster above and myself re delays caused by Highways agency and police with absolutely no sense of urgency, often causing massive disruption for very minor and non sinister incidents are certainly a major problem on our motorway network. Its health and safety gone mad at a massive economic cost.
