Macrium Reflect Cloning Guide

It should have worked fine, did you set your newly cloned ssd as first boot device in BIOS after cloning?

With Samsung ssd's you can use Samsung data migration tool,it does the same job

And yh windows will need reactivating, best to use magic jellybean software beforehand to get find your windows code, then write it down and start the cloning process

Yup, connected only the new SSD and it wouldn't work. Not sure why but EaseUS did the trick.

Windows was relatively easy to reactivate, I just had to ring a number and put in a lot of other numbers. Took a while but it worked.

Had an issue with Steam last night... kept saying it had to be online to update when I tried to start it from the new drive. Tried lots of fixes but it turned out to just need 'Run as Administrator' selected. Whoops.

Has anyone used this to clone a drive with a Windows & Linux partition? Be interested to know if it will pick up GRUB and copy it across.

Its all blue and white, looked better before.

Gone from this.

Macrium is a great free bit of software. Just cloned to a new Samsung 850 EVO and it all went fine.
I use it to image all my disks for backup too.

Once Windows was up and running again it told me it needed reactivating (sigh) so I had to spend a few minutes on the phone to Microsoft but it all went through OK.

Anyways, all seems to be working nicely now which is ace.
Why would windows need reactivating if this is an exact clone? Will other programs need reactivating/serials re-entered?

I planning on doin this tonite/2moz(cloning 120GB ssd boot drive to a new 240gb SSD)

In win8.1 will i be able to just format the original 120gb ssd drive easily using disk manager? The last time i tried formatting a random drive with a version of windows installed on it i ran into problems(and i cant remember how i got round it at the time lol)

I just used this to move my games from a 320Gb spinning drive to a 500Gb Crucial BX100 SSD. The cloning has seemed to go well and I used Disk Management tool to extend the partition and change drive letters.

Good stuff.

Do you have to backup the hidden partitions as well if cloning for deploying the OS image to a new blank SSD ?
