Macrium Reflect Cloning Guide

thanks, this looks like just what I need ie simple! I've got a crucial ssd lying around from amazon black friday sales *2013*!

Do we need to check alignment after this? I read that it may not be correct after a clone

yeah

windows still on your hdd you mean? yeah sure

just remember to set the ssd as first boot device in bios

Use this many times during work to back up data and images of peoples machines.

Usually use Ghost but when you need to take the drive out in order to clone, Macrium works amazingly.

The time is usually only as low as 6 minutes when it's just a blank Windows installation with no actual data.

Thanks for the guide, I intend to use it after a quick question.
I have just taken delivery of my new M500 - 240gb drive.
It is replacing an M4 120gb.

When I connect the new drive, do I initialise/format it before the cloning process?

Good post although a caveat for anyone who follows the advice to unplug all drives except the ones you wish to clone from / to.

I followed this advice yesterday and macrium kept refusing to clone my old drive to my new drive 80gb Intel to 512gb crucial ssd. It turned out that the page file was the problem. However the warning / fail message from macrium didn't tell me that. Just told me the drive was in use.

The clone works like a charm, but I did it wrong.

My normal drive c: is a 128gb Samsung 830 (118gb formatted)

My new drive is a 250gb Samsung 850 (232gb formatted)

Macrium seems to have cloned the 118gb to the 232gb drive and now the 232gb is only showing 118gb of space.

This is what I get for getting a job and using wyse boxes every day.. I've become a noob again = (
