Madeleine McCann cops ask Home Office for more money to continue search for missing child

How many times in your lifetime has this happened?
It’s not like it’s every week that a child gets snatched from a hotel room is it?
Which is what makes this such a high profile case.

That's because their parents are normally there, deterring people from such actions.

Also it's high profile because she's white and from a wealthy family of professionals who have banged the media drum a lot.

I’ve taken my children camping.
Easiest thing in the world to snatch a child from a campsite and it’s happened.
It was extremely unfortunate that this sicko was about.

Edit: what’s the colour of her skin got to do with anything?

Really? You haven't noticed that white children get a much higher media profile than non-white when something happens? I guess living in a cave explains a lot!

Showing your true ‘colour’ now racist comment.

Let’s see what kind of advice is given to help parents prevent the abduction of your child.

  • Set boundaries about the places your kids go. Supervise them in places like malls, movie theaters, parks, public bathrooms, or while fundraising door to door.
  • Never leave kids alone in a car or stroller, even for a minute.

I’d imagine leaving them in an unlocked and unsupervised room in a foreign country whilst drinking with others, is slightly worse than a car or stroller for even a minute?

I always remember the way how the mainstream media scared so many parents making them all think 50 of those kind of people were waiting at the bottom of the street corner waiting to snatch them. Where even at times much older guys, late 60s/late 70s or even 80s out walking in the fresh air as it was what they did, or sitting on park benches somewhere (the ones you always saw sitting in the sun with bunnets) or the bottom of the high street. Parents would give them weird looks out of paranoia.
Heck I even remember somebody phoned the police to report Will Self walking a boy home after school when it was in fact he was collecting his son from school to walk home.

Or even people with cameras were being accused of paedophiles shooting the scenery in Summer or Autumn.

In all the times I remember playing in the streets or many other streets through the 80s and 90s, I never saw anything dodgy. Or weird people waiting about scoping out the place for certain children but this was likely the right person found in the right opportunity at the right time. No doubt from a distance they scoped out the patterns of the McCann's for days waiting to strike.
It was like that feeling when strangers in cars pulled up asking if you needed a lift. In one hand you were always cautious but in the other it didn't mean they were some evil human being. As most were just being courteous asking back then in the 80s and 90s. As I remember entering the 2000s, very rarely you'd see anyone pull over asking if you'd need a lift.

Had zero sympathy for this couple from day 1. They treated their children as inconveniences on the holiday. Other parents with children of a similar age, make sure their kids are 100% priority. The holiday complex had baby sitting services. Why didn’t they use the service? When I was 5 my parents sat out on the balcony for an hour between me going to bed and them.

The McCanns should have been charged with child neglect .

Every holiday I see multiple parents with kids during the day and then kids missing during the evening, OK sometimes they may have a baby monitor on the table, it has always gone on and always will.
The nine of them, yes there were 9 adults in total and a few kids, took it in turns to look in on the children, the baby sitting service only offered once an hour so they thought every 30 minutes would be better. It's funny how none of the Tapas 7 (the other 7 adult friends) have ever bene blamed.
Even in this country they would have not been done for neglect or the other of the Tapas 7 who also did the same with their kids.
Neglect is a very big accusation and normally has to be done over time.
I was reading Child Safeguarding material today for a patient and that is neglect.

It's always the same arguments that don't wash.

As a parent you can’t watch your children constantly.
No I personally wouldn’t have left my 3 year old in a room whilst I had a drink in the bar.
Or if I had I would have left one parent with her.
I’m pretty sure that the McCanns are very well aware of that fact now.
It’s a ‘freak’ incident for a kiddyfidder to just happen to be around at the same time?
That’s why some suggest that’s not what really happened.
I would be more concerned about her having an accident or choking.
Being abducted from the room is the last thing you would imagine.
Wtf?? And you have small children?? **** me.

It's a big concern when we are out of any comfortable environment, in which a foreign resort definitely would fit.

Having a peado come into a room steal your child is about as likely as a bear coming in and eating her.
So you don't bother protecting your kids from potential danger at all? If it ain't likely then **** it?

Terrifies me at times how you ‘sheeple’ think.
How on earth can you label someone as a sheep in this instance? Please explain.

Delusion? Well it’s a good job the authorities where as ‘deluded’ as me or you mob would have had the McCanns hung drawn and quartered.
Nope, just sufficient legal recourse for those responsible via our justice system, as per the usual.

There are legitimate safeguarding requirements to fulfil their definition of neglect, correct.

However, there is also the dictionary definition of the word neglect which is what has been in use within this thread.

If they were carers of the child then I'm pretty sure it could fall into a third definition which is criminal neglect.

Whether they would ever be "done" for any form of neglect is for the judicial system to sort out, but I do not feel this couple were ever considered at all.

You seem to be confusing a legal definition with a societal one. They are very different.

o

Is there anywhere I could get criminal compensation for neglect growing up?
I’m traumatised now at the thought.
I was a big Rolf Harris fan as well.
Enjoyed a bit of ‘it’s a knockout’ too.
Joking apart I actually did get abducted.
Only the old lady I used to buy cigarettes for saved me.
I was around 5yrs old.
Yes I went to the shops for cigs at 5 possibly 6

You do come across as being damaged so perhaps your childhood wasn't as perfect as you think it was.

I would be more concerned about her having an accident or choking.

So if she'd woken up, gotten out of bed and fallen down the stairs or off the balcony and died you still wouldn't see that as neglect?

Easiest thing in the world to snatch a child from a campsite and it’s happened.

That all depends. If the parents decide to send the kid off on their own out of sight to play for a few hours, or leave them in a tent alone while they go to the pub then of course it's easy. If the parents are actually doing their job and "parenting" then it becomes a lot more difficult/virtually impossible.
