Madeleine McCann cops ask Home Office for more money to continue search for missing child

Thank you @Haggisman for backing my reasons of hating the parents.

The holiday was all about adults, not children. Have friends that left children behind with grandparents in order to have a child free holiday. I know Kate’s parents were alive at the time.

They're both dead now? I don't see any information on that...

I find it quite unreal seeing how much all of this has aged Kate drastically. As it's been a long time since I've seen any footage of her.

If a parents negligence, carelessness or brief lack of attention results in the death of a child. The end result is exactly the same.
No amount of ‘I only took my eye of her for a second’ (so thats alright then) is going to make you feel any better about it.
If Maddy was indeed abducted as they claim the McCanns will have punished themselves every moment of every day, infact it might only be closure that’s kept them alive.

It's scary thinking back to this, 3rd of May 2007 right? Tony Blair was still Prime Minister. Up until June.

Over protecting children is just as harmful as being negligent.
I’m not here to pass judgement on the McCanns - they may even be guilty who knows, but my point stands firm no one on the planet had perfect parents.
Ok sure, let's all leave our 3 year olds unattended in a foreign location for the evening and see how that toughens 'em up

We spent our entire childhood in the 1970s playing out, even at a very young age. I mean all the children on the street, not just me.
Anything could have happened.

Your parents would have let you play out on the street on your own completely unsupervised at 3 years old? Because there's no way I would trust a 3 year old not to run into the road in front of a car. That's ignoring the fact there's a massive difference between "playing out 'unsupervised' (while mum/dad is watching from the window)" and "playing out unsupervised while mum & dad go to the pub round the corner for a couple of hours"

Edit: How is that a strawman argument?
Over protecting children is just as harmful as being negligent.

You're trying to argue that there's no such thing as a perfect parent, therefore leaving your 3 year old unattended for several hours is not negligent...

And again, missing the whole grey area between the 2 extremes of "over protecting" vs "not leaving your 3 year old unattended so you can go and get drunk with your mates"

Things did happen. Things like Jimmy Saville.

Is there anywhere I could get criminal compensation for neglect growing up?
I’m traumatised now at the thought.
I was a big Rolf Harris fan as well.
Enjoyed a bit of ‘it’s a knockout’ too.
Joking apart I actually did get abducted.
Only the old lady I used to buy cigarettes for saved me.
I was around 5yrs old.
Yes I went to the shops for cigs at 5 possibly 6

Unsure about Madeline’s grandparents’ living status now. Remember the grandparents were interviewed around the time of the disappearance/abduction
