I thnk the difference is the level of suffering and ones perception of suffering vs. another. Doesn't make it wong, just makes it different.
Why is it different now? According to most it is flip a coin. Ie a random choice.

An excuse can always be made for not helping needier others. Social leadership is, however, helping those who cannot help themselves. Im reminded of the saying "you can take a man out of poverty, but not if the poverty is in the man".

That is probably because her claims are as yet unsubstantiated. It's not going to be good PR for Instagram if she has a DNA test that proves positive, they'll be paying her then to open an account!
