leave him alone, 3.5 years is nearly 5

Except for the massive gap of 1.5 years, add to that the fact that he says it came with a 3870X2, and you've got 2.5 years maxmimum.

3.5 years isn't "nearly" 4 years, never mind 5, and 2.5 years being "5 years" is just ridiculous.

Thats ridiculous. Maybe its just another bad port from the console versions either that or they are really trying to stitch us up.

Downloading now but not holdng my hopes high

Game feels like a horrible console port, even the gun switching shows the dpad for 360. Along with the terrible PhysX fps, Mafia 2 doesn't deserve our money.

tbh, if it came down to playing the PS3 version and actually playing the game or getting the PC version and considering more £100's of hardware upgrades and stress then I'd probably just go with the console. Reminds me of Just cause 2 on my GTX 260. Full res etc, ran crap. PS3 version, just more fun.

The benchmark runs like a sack of crap wth max physx on 480 sli. Something seems to be broken.

Oh dear.

Yeah out the box it runs PhyX on CPU when you select high even on nVidia setups unless you run the provided PhysX install (steamapp\mafia ii - public demo\3rd) TWICE.

Its also quite laggy with VSync enabled - even on 120Hz with triple buffering. (Disabling VSync in the menu doesn't always seem to disable it even if you have VSync on auto in the control panel - you may need to force it off for the game).

erm, i wasnt being serious

K, I've got Physx working on the GPU, here's what I did, I'm not sure what got it work out of these steps, but it did.

Uninstall Physx from Control Panel.

Go to Mafia 2 folder in Steamapps folder and manually install the Physx SS in there.

Go to Nvidia control panel and set Physx mode to CPU only, hit apply, set Physx mode to auto and hit apply.

Voila'

35fps on 2x overclocked 460's maxxed at 1080p instead of 10 in the refinery.........

Fluidmark now works again, and so does Batman.

Yeah this worked, check my FPS now with high physx on a single 480, the first part of the bench GPU usage was like 30-40 % so it can be improved, the last part with all the burning and stuff GPU usage hit 80% and FPS was 100+.

It ran ok without physx and crap with physx. overall it looks ok but the frame-rate dips put me off. Unless I'm missing something, the shooting chunks out of stone pillars doesn't impress me any more compared to what my PS3 does without the frame-rate drops.

Wow a lot of ATI owners in here, explains the bias in the boards.
The bias changes from one to the other all the time when 8800gtx it was pro nvidia and people who spoke out for ati you could count on one hand, more likely when N.I and fermni 2 who ever has the best hardware will have the most posters.

Physx debris sticks around and does not disappear the second it leaves the wall.

The game runs 100% better with the method shown in my previous post, GPU usage in game is now 80-99% with high phsyx, looking at 100+ FPS.

Yes debris sticks around that is a difference, but not one that i care about or feel is important in a game.

Helps with the immersion when playing a game does physx and when you spend the big bucks on a card I expect some sweet GFX/effects. After playing mafia 2 with it on and with great performance I'm not going to knock it as much as I did.
