Even though I'm planning on buying a gtx 480, the stingy/sensible side of me is still thinking of adding a 2nd gtx275 on the cheap for sli. I'd be very grateful if any gtx 275 sli owners would post up their mafia benches with everything maxxed out. Also i'd like to know if there's a difference in sli mode or when the 2nd card is used for physx only. Thanks in advance folks :)

I get about 5 more frames with one of my cards as a physx card than I do if I run SLI.

I really dont think this demo is optimised well at all either that or we need some better drivers.

In SLI mode I get about 40% usage across both gpu's.

With one card as a dedicated physx card I get 95-98% gpu load on the main card and 30-40% load on my physx card.

If you can afford the 480 I say go for it. If you cant then 2 x 275gtx's will still be a good setup. :)

Thanks for the advice, I'm just worried that I'll just kick myself for cheaping out again- that's why I want to compare figures to see the difference :)

what do i use to take the screenshots?

Fraps will do it :)

The advantages on going for a 480 will be.

Handles 32xAA with ease
Very good at overclocking
DX11
TRSAA
No SLI issues
Better minimum frame rates

Either option will give you a good end experience, you just have to decide if the 480 is worth the extra cash.

Better minimum frames with 32aa alone would be enough reason to go gtx 480. Funnily enough this has been such a talking point for me that even the mrs thinks I should just go fot the gtx 480 and be happy rather than sli and have that nagging feeling of having compromised yet again over a few quid!

If its been on your mind for that long I say go for it and be 100% satisfied. :)

i cant seem to get the pics taken onto here, i have to goto work now so will upload them later. With everything on max 16x aa and physx on with the quad sli i got an A. but with 1 single 295 i only scored a C with physx on. game looks quite nice. if someone leaves on here how to put my fraps pics on ill do it tonight.

Lol you don't want to know how many gtx 275's I've watched on ebay but everytime I've stepped back because the whole point of my gaming pc was to give me a premium experience so yeah I'm just gonna have to accept that I NEED fermi lol :)

Upload them with imageshack and then place in these tags

Get some Fermi Love in your pc mate. I am sure you will be very happy with it. :)

Although the game plays smooth with my 295's, ive decided its time to sell and get the 480. Gonna talk to the mrs later and see what she says hehehe. Then im thinking an ssd and its all good.

Out of interest, whats making you sell x2 gtx 295's for a single gtx 480? was it dx11 support or is quad sli just not that good? Just intrigued to know cos I'd have thought thats a powerful enough gpu setup for anything thats out now or will be anytime soon?

If anyones interested - same PC, same settings, etc. top is GTX260 SLI bottom is GTX470 + GTX260 for PhysX. Not a huge difference but framerate is more consistant and the game a bit smoother - also I can turn up the AA ingame (using exe rename/control panel force) and still get 60+ fps on the GTX470 whereas on the GTX260 SLI it would drop below 40fps.

All settings are maxed including PhysX at 1680x1050.

EDIT: With just the GTX470 doing rendering + physx it gets 10.4/83.3/36.3 but thats not a good indication of how different it feel smoothness wise in actual gameplay and how much different fps is in actual gameplay.
