**Mafia 2 Benchmark thread**

Above is a vid showing high physx benchmark with the clothes physx for the NCP's disabled, as you can see performance is 100% better even when recording with fraps, in all honesty you would never know the difference with physx clothes on or off and Vito still has it enabled anyway.

Ran the last benchmark with PhysX on the GTX480 and got the same results

I just ran 1920x1200, everything max, AA on, Physx high and got 6.4/74.4/14.9

OK physx wasn't running in hardware, I now get 32.2 average compared to 14.9

Turning off physx, so everything max + AA, physx off gives me average of 52.7

CPU usage :

Edit: Doh! I had vsync on, numbers above corrected

Has anyone else had an issue whereby the game crashes mere seconds into running the benchmark?

I have downloaded the demo through steam on my main pc (new GTX460 has arrived :D) and I can't run the benchmark at all.

I have uninstalled the Physx drivers and installed the latest ones from the Mafia 2 game folder, unfortunately this gives me the same result. (In the brief 5 seconds of the benchmark I did notice a massive performance improvement with physx enabled)

Checking the integrity of the game data on steams leads to no results.

I am genuinely confused as it runs fine on my laptop.

Other games run fine on my system and hence I assume the only other thing I can try is a complete delete and redownload of the demo?

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Have you tried the latest 0513 Physx drivers?

As per my previous post I have uninstalled the physx drivers (provided when I installed the main GPU drivers) and reinstalled with those shown in the Mafia 2apps folder (0513 according to the file name).

I think I will make a backup from my laptop and reinstall the demo.

In your previous post you didn't state what version of Physx you installed. The mafia 2 demo originally came with 0512 drivers (borked), hence my post.

Ah sorry, as far as I am aware the demo download was updated to include the latest physx driver sometime during yesterday (my laptops download originally only had the 0512 driver whereas it now has 0513).

For some reason evertime i print screen it captured my desktop and steam menu.

Anyway maxed out 55fps, but then putting the physix engine on full 28fps.

System:

Q9550 @ 3.5
4gb DDR3 @ stock
NVida 260GTX @ stock
1050p
Win7 64.

TBH this is the best engine i've ever seen benching, so much detail with so little requirements.

Tried on a 720p tv & the graphics were very blocky but on a 1080p tv even with no AA it looked a lot better, as though this game needs a certain resolution to render the graphics properly?
Oh, I got av 24fps with gpu physx & 11fps with cpu physx. All max 1080p.
I think the game deffo looks better with physx, im trying to decide if I can live with medium quality as high quality stutter a lot, especially when approaching a new scene.
Unless it needs >4gig ram?

Use Fraps :)

Using GPUz can folks report the gpu usage of their dedicated physx cards.

I ran the bench for about 30 seconds and it never rose above 18% for my 9600GT which seems odd (physx high, all settings max@1920x1200)

For reference running the batman AA bench the max GPU usage of my 9600 is ~60%

Has anyone noticed that the benchmark changes?
Just after the start where there is one car another pulls up behind the other car,now this is where for me it changes.

1-the guy gets out of the second car starts shooting and gets killed
2-the guy gets out of the second car and goes out of view
3-the guy gets out of the second car starts shooting and the it pans away

So I think I will run the benchmark 3 times like you do in Crysis from now on.
