If it's running physx on the CPU then that's why you have the slow down, here on a 480 with physx on the GPU there is no slow down at all, this with the clothes mod.

I just ran 1920x1200, everything max, AA on, Physx high and got 6.4/74.4/14.9
Has anyone else had an issue whereby the game crashes mere seconds into running the benchmark?
I have downloaded the demo through steam on my main pc (new GTX460 has arrived ) and I can't run the benchmark at all.
I have uninstalled the Physx drivers and installed the latest ones from the Mafia 2 game folder, unfortunately this gives me the same result. (In the brief 5 seconds of the benchmark I did notice a massive performance improvement with physx enabled)
Checking the integrity of the game data on steams leads to no results.
I am genuinely confused as it runs fine on my laptop.
Other games run fine on my system and hence I assume the only other thing I can try is a complete delete and redownload of the demo?
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
Have you tried the latest 0513 Physx drivers?
As per my previous post I have uninstalled the physx drivers (provided when I installed the main GPU drivers) and reinstalled with those shown in the Mafia 2apps folder (0513 according to the file name).
I think I will make a backup from my laptop and reinstall the demo.
In your previous post you didn't state what version of Physx you installed. The mafia 2 demo originally came with 0512 drivers (borked), hence my post.
Would a 9800GT be enough to run physx in this game along with a 5970?
For some reason evertime i print screen it captured my desktop and steam menu.
Anyway maxed out 55fps, but then putting the physix engine on full 28fps.
System:
Q9550 @ 3.5
4gb DDR3 @ stock
NVida 260GTX @ stock
1050p
Win7 64.
TBH this is the best engine i've ever seen benching, so much detail with so little requirements.
