Main holds 19 year dying dog in lake every night who saved him when he was a puppy

Lovely to see that guy putting the effort in to help, and that photo is phenomenal. The peace on the dog's face, knowing the background, is heart-wrenching.

Absolutely - I hated dogs as a kid, but now I have three of my own and I fully understand what special animals they are. A beautiful story that's got me sat here blinking back tears.

Yes, a great story but won't he wake again when he takes him out?

First read of the title, I thought he was drowning the dog to put him out of his misery.

All the same a heart moving story, I bet he gets a date now :)

If the dog is in that much pain and riddled with arthritis, surely the kind thing to do would be to put him down.

Is this story for real?

If it is..and that pooch is suffering then I also agree that lethal injection needs to be given :(

Read the twincities article, such a touching story, makes me miss my wee dog :-(

Why can't more people be more humane like Unger, instead of inhumane like so many other's in the world.

The way I see it, already, if you read the 2nd link, somebody has donated enough money for all the painkilling meds the dog needs and any vet bills plus the photographer is giving him half the money form selling the photos.

Apparently the man has went hungry a few times and spent his money feeding the dog instead. Great story and nice to see that true humanity is still around.

Why is everyone crying recently?

It's a pleasant story with a very caring dog owner, but, tears?! Ever since Murray's Wimbledon defeat a few weeks ago, everyone seems to be blubbering like babies.
