Making a murderer - The Avery case (Spoilers)

and the fact that they zeroed in on Steven and seemed blind to anyone else.

After the car was found, they focussed on the entire Avery's Auto Salvage. Not just Steven. All residences, garages and other buildings were searched. Earl Avery's home (which isn't on the yard) was searched. All Avery's were interviewed, all Avery's were requested to give DNA samples, fingerprints and palm prints, all Avery's underwent physical examination for defense wounds. Charles Avery's odd history with women was looked into. The Zipperer's were interviewed, the neighbours of the Zipperer's were interviewed, George Zipperer's alibi was confirmed, they looked into sightings of the RAV4. But only evidence against Stevie kept popping up.

The most compelling part of series 2 for me was the exclusion of the Coroner, which seemed odd and the investigation into the bones.

The coroner was from Manitowoc County. In the series she said something along the lines of her not being a cop so she didn't have a conflict of interest with Steve. Which is wrong, because Stevie sued the entire county. With the coroner being a county official, she did have a (potential) conflict of interest.

Because of the conflict of interest, Manitowoc had given the lead of the investigation to Calumet County. Calumet County, though, had a rather small sheriff's department, but the investigation was a rather big one. Therefore Calumet would borrow manpower resources from neighbouring agencies like New Holstein, Two Rivers, Marinette, Brillion Fire Department, the DCI, etc.

Manitowoc personnel would also remain involved, but only if Calumet requested them. So whenever Lenk, or Remiker, or Jost, or Colborn was on the scene, they were there because they were requested by Calumet. The coroner however, was never requested by Calumet. So she shouldn't have been there. However, she kept trying to get access to the scene, even inviting herself to it, while there was a conflict of interest!

In the series the coroner explains that either a coroner or a medical examiner should have a look at the remains (if they are human). The series never tells the viewer that Jeffrey Jentzen, medical examiner from Calumet, did examine the remains.

So the coroner has possible conflict of interest, but the Sherrifs department don't?
Problem is even if he is guilty there was a lot of wrongdoing on the part of the Police which brings in "reasonable doubt" surely?

I tried to explain that the coroner had a potential conflict of interest or that a conflict of interest may be perceived. She is a county official and her county was sued by Avery.

I wasn't saying there was no conflict of interest between Avery and the MTSD. Nobody knows if there was or wasn't. MTSD thought a conflict of interest may be perceived and thus gave the lead to Calumet County. Calumet would borrow manpower resources from neighbouring agencies including MTSD. MTSD would then send cops who did not work for MTSD at the time of Avery's 1985 investigation and who weren't named in the civil lawsuit from Avery against the County, the former sheriff and former DA. They thought they were using MTSD resources that had no conflict of interest. On top of that they were always with a Calumet cop. Not the brightest move because they should've known Avery's defense team was going to attack this.

Regardless, i can understand Calumet opted to use their own guy rather than borrow someone from another county.

I think it's up to the jury to decide if there was any (intentional) wrongdoing. I don't think they had ever seen any concrete evidence there was foul play.

This just one big mess by the prosecution

The prosecution presented a "false forensic story", the motion argues, by claiming that the bones in the Gravel Pit were not human and therefore not evidence to be considered.

But. They returned the Gravel Pit bones to the Halbach family for burial.
So the prosecution knew they was human but told lies in court.

There is a new motion going to court https://static1.squarespace.com/sta...01531135/Dkt.+1000+-+Supp+§+974.06+motion.pdf

The state tried to oppose the motion. And lost.

I think the State's response deals very well with Zellner's claims in her March motion. Note that Zellner is misinterpreting the Statute she references to. And a redditor pointed out the motion is part plagiarism from a law student article. The whole thing is still pending btw... State hasn't lost and tbh I think will win this round, again.

If Zellner is claiming the State knew the bones were human, i think just giving them back to the Halbachs isnt evidence of that. Regardless, the bones are not exculpatory to Avery either way.

But seriously... arrest and conviction!? LoL! Yea right. She has gathered zip nada no evidence whatsoever. Nobody is getting convicted. Nobody's gonna pay!

Reminds me of the proof of guilt challenge few years ago where she offered 10k, but it contained questions that couldnt possibly be answered with a non-speculative answer and she wanted yoir ID and at the end she said something along the lines of even if you got it all right, its still her decision to pay you or not. LOL. Marketing tripe.

Still talking trash.

We have a crimes line. You get given a code. If the evidence leads to a arrest and conviction. You get the cash..simples
Oh. And this is in every state.

Kathleen Zellner is so full of excrement even her eyes are brown, I imagine she's gotten bored now that she's been out of the limelight and Avery's last request for a new trial was denied. I imagine she's doing all she can to try and get back in the public eye.

I'm glad Avery will be in prison for life, although I think the Making a murderer film makers should also do some time for the lies and misinformation they created, lies and misinformation which wrecked the lives of some of the Manitowoc county sheriff's office.

Don't you ever read or learn?
One has to go through the process in the US.
The Appellate court is the best one followed by the Supreme court.

When he was in jail for rape. I bet you would have said he was guilty ;(

Precisely!

Who cares?

It'll be denied again and again, over and over, at every level - because it's ridiculous. There's no new evidence, no other explanation that makes sense - because Avery is obviously guilty and right where he needs to be - only a fool would come to any other conclusion.

Kathleen Zellner and her multimillion dollar team of pseudoscience-charlatans, combined with lying Netflix film makers and an armchair community of Reddit conspiracy theorists, couldn't do it in three years, what makes you think things will be different this time?

Perhaps it's you who needs a few lessons in how things go?
