Malaysia Grand Prix 2012, Kuala Lumpur - Race 2/20

My concern is they are not notching enough points while red bull is struggling, my own concern is they are not going to have enough of a gap when red bull come back at them.

Of course thats my own paranoia still to do with a two driver team taking on a one driver team.

That is true, however it seems Webber is likely to take more points off Vettel this season than before.

Any announcement yet why Vettel was ordered to stop so suddenly in the dying minutes of the race.

Probably so they could change the gearbox without penalty [it's probably easy to show there is something wrong with it]. Then Maldonado crashed so they were 11th. They probably thought it's worth carrying out in case someone else drops out. Then changed their minds again when it looked like no-one would drop out, then just f-knows.

Brundle said that Vettle's puncture caused a malfunction with the brakes and temperatures were going sky high, think they were afraid it was going to cause a crash.

I really hope Perez doesn't go to Ferrari. IMO it would be professional suicide.

Barrichello
Irvine
Fischicella <--speeling ?
Massa

Ferrari are a one man team and a guinea pig

Good win by Alonso will come in handy later in the year
EXCELLENT race by Perez
Pretty shiddy by Lewis really. Jenson had him before JB blew it.
Vettel <--Ummm, your not supposed to crow about another mans misfortune !! (snigger)
Webbo... You're beating your team mate dude...
Kimi... decent result from grid position.
Schumi... Lady luck deserts you once again

Best of the rest.. Nice to see em scoring points in a good tussle.

Also lol at Vettel giving karthikeyan the finger and them calling him an idiot

Is the Sulky spoiled brat Vettel going to return now that everything isn't going his way?

I thought what Vettel said about Narain was bang out of order, where the hell was he supposed to go exactly? Also I think that Narain's comments were fully justified with regards to the bigger teams bullying the smaller ones, yes the teams at the back are slow, however driving around like you own the track is just downright ignorant.

Managed to catch the highlight show after being away for the weekend and it looked to be a pretty decent race once the weather sorted itself out. On that subject, why on earth do they insist on racing at that stupid time when they know there is a possibility of it pelting it down? Yes there is a time difference for the European viewers but a couple of hours earlier is no skin off my nose (especially when I don't have Sky) and at least then we can have a decent race without the red flag being shown.

Cracking result for Perez though, drove really maturely apart from the small error but even the best are guilty of that. Ferrari are certainly picking up the points they need so far which should put them in good stead once they have have a fully working car.

Roll on 3 weeks time :)

Can anyone elaborate on what happened to Vettel at the end of the race?

There was a series of radio messages first telling him to box, then stay out and finally to stop the car immediately. At that point I had to go out and missed the race aftermath but from the results it appears Vettel didn't stop and finished the race?!?

How did I miss this?! Karth is completely right though. The bigger teams don't even pay attention to the smaller ones... I also think HRT are getting a lot of stick because they are SO slow. I mean fair enough, but he couldn't exactly have moved any more out of the way! The fact that it almost blew up Vettels car is due to radio issues really..

He had a brake issue after the puncture, Air not getting to left rear I think, and temperatures were going sky high. They said the reason for the mixed radio chatter was that he was having issues with his Radio, but I'm not sure how that explains it. The only thing it does explain is why he finished the race rather than stopping...

That is assuming that RB does in fact come back at them. This is also my concern though, it is similar to last year where there was no real challenger to Vettel's campaign and they all kept taking points off each other.

I'm not actually sure RB will come back... It was McLaren who really did well in development last season compared to RB... It's not like McLaren's inseason development is exactly poor... Saying that the RB does seem to be doing better than I expected, so there is potential for it to be very similar to 2010 again (which I'd be happy with).

Can't really count Fisi in that list but the others are all race winners for Ferrari and two of them had a good shot at the championship (Irvine '99 & Massa '08)

I think a driver refusing a Ferrari contract would be quite foolish, getting a race seat in one of the top teams is not that easy and probably a once in a lifetime opportunity.

those drivers were never good enough it's as simple as that, maybe barrichello was but his problem was he was racing with the best driver anyone has seen since senna, and fisichella was only there for 6months to fill in for an injured massa.

Perez will get his chance at ferrari he wont be another massa unless he drives as bad as massa has been doing the last 2 years, i'm sure if he's up there with alonso he's not gonna be a no.2 driver, and massa wouldn't be a no.2 driver if he was close to fernando's time's and race results.

Irvine had 1 good season at ferrari and that was his last, he was only no.2 to schumacher because he consistantly outperformed irvine for 3 years in a row by a big margin, i'm 100% sure if perez is good enough he wont be a no.2 driver.

What an entertaining race! Was screaming for Perez to win that and nearly cried with that one costly mistake!

First time iv been that into a GP for a little while :)

Might even have to get sky for next season or something....

Can't believe Grosjean went out 2 consecutive races after 2 good qualis, talk about bad luck. As for Schumacher, I really think he's wasting his and Mercedes time. I absolutely knew he wouldn't hold 3rd place, he's PAST it, why doesn't he realise that he's had his day. The best he'll ever do is 9th or 10th place. And he always seems to be somewhere on a circuit where someone or something causes him to lose control or break the car.

Someone younger and more aware would probaby not be in those situations as much as him. Not that Rosberg has done much better, but then maybe Rosberg isn't as good for his age as Schumacher was in his 20s.

I was wondering why Vettel said to the interviewer on BBC that it's a bit like driving on normal roads, there's always some idiot. So he was obviously referring to karthikeyan. :D

I knew the smile would start to get wiped from his face if he didn't start to dominate and get good points or points at all. If he keeps doing badly, it's going to be fun, because I can see him getting very petty and angry as the season progresses. Many people are probably under the impression that he's a good sportsman through and through, but I'm sure his true colours will show.
A bit like Lewis Hamilton was last season, but I suspect Vettel will throw more toys out. I mean he is german. :p

lol didn't see that before. Still can't understand why anyone thinks this is Karthikeyan's fault. Nice not to see everything going Vettels way for a change

He is also still very young, so i expect to see lots of toys. It is much easier to lead from the front, I can't wait to see it all not going his way tbh in the midfield.

If it gets past, say, 3 or 4 races and he's down the list on the points leaderboard, it's going to make it more difficult for him to do well, because he'll feel the pressure more and might start trying too hard which can make things worse. Hopefully. It's very much psychological I'd imagine. China is the time to start doing well to get his confidence and stride back, and if he doesn't then things could start to go rapidly downhill for him. Or maybe that should be uphill.

Has there been any word from Massa, or have Ferrari gagged him?

With his team mate winning and a major player in his replacement rumours coming in second while he flounders at the tail end of the field I can't imagine he would be keen to say much.
