Malaysia Grand Prix 2012, Kuala Lumpur - Race 2/20

Just realised that the top 8 were all different teams - that doesnt happen too often. Hell only FI had 2 points finishes...

Perez's inexperience is what let him down. He has raw pace in the wet, but lacks experience.

I remember his team told him over the radio, not to over-do it and remember that the 18 points he was currently holding, were important. About 30s later, he went off.

Yep. Perez lost out on the win through a combination of inexperience on his part (going off the road), and poor strategy on his teams part (not pitting him at the right time for slicks). These are both things that can be worked on though.

you do realise those radio transmissions are delayed for us? for him he would have heard it about 1-2minutes earlier

Massa is probably one of the easiest drivers to overtake, so not sure where this comment comes from :)

I think LH and JB would have something to say about that comment! IMO, Massa's do or die attitude to defending his places sometimes borders on the deliberately dangerous. It was only JB's level head that prevented him from being taken out multiple times by Massa when trying to overtake in Sepang.

As it is, coming off the back of that accident, coupled with being pretty much destroyed by Alonso day in, day out - his confidence must be shot to pieces.

I think these two factors cause him to become a touch desperate to retain position, which in turn leads to aggresive encounters with other cars (not all his fault I know...)

Either way, I think Massa would do well to leave Ferrari, go race in in a team with a more evenly matched teammate and start to rebuild his confidence and ability. If that teammate is beating him, then perhaps he should seriously consider his F1 future..

Even if he would've heard it 1 minute earlier, it still equates to about 1 lap.
On 1 lap, he gets the radio message, then on the next one, he goes off.

As a big SV fan I have to say I'm a little dissapointed in his comment towards Karth. I understand that it can be very frustrating etc but there certainly is no need to say stuff like that when it the blame is with you.

I would hope that he would think about what he said and apologise but I doubt it will happen.

It is a shame as he was catching Hamilton each lap, and Webber was also catching him, so we could have had some good racing on our hands for that third place.

works both ways though really and you cant blame him for trying to win surely?

if your not going for the win then you are nolonger a racing driver? :D

this time he made the mistake maybe next time the person in alonsos place will make the mistake pushing to try and stay infront

The thing that is interesting is that, Schumi, Jenson, Nico, Lewis had no real pace to make any in roads during the race, once they were in a position, they pretty much stayed there

Nico said hes tyres were shot, when he came in, the engineers said they were brand new! i think the top teams had problems getting heat in them, look at Jenson when he had no turn in.

Whats your point? Its part of the human psyche when you are told not to do something/think of something you invariably do. Even Coulthard mentioned he once went off the next corner after such a message.

This and the break of concentration. Was it Alonso that told his engineer to stop talking to him last season while he was chasing someone down?

I'm betting Perez was in the zone when that radio call came in.
