I too, rated Hill very highly and was very dissapointed when he left Williams to goto the back of the grid. At the time, he was the best British driver and was able to mix it with MS.

I felt that Hill took a big step forward in his own developement as a driver, when he was able to keep up with and hassle MS into a mistake in the 1994 Aussie GP. Upto that point, I always felt that MS/Bennetton were a good deal faster than Hill/Williams.
 
Yeah the trouble is he had a shocker in 95 and Williams made the call then. He really wasn't great wheel to wheel and as Head said he always left a little in reserve instead of going for it in quallies but still some of his Qfy laps where very good. Always came across as a decent guy too, I would have liked him on BBC in one of the pitlane jobs. I guess he's a family man and doesn't want anymore time away.

Is 96 the last time we actually had two drivers from the same team actually racing each other for a title? That is without all that race to the first corner BS or race to the pitstop then back off?

Can it really be that long since two drivers from the same team actually went at each other?

Your above appraisal of schumacher would be exactly the same as mine a cheat but a good driver. No actually I say he was a dirty **** that was prepared to use his car as a weapon, the worst lack of respect for your fellow drivers you can get. His punishment in 97 was laughable. Monaco even more laughable.

I wait with interest though to find my constant praise of schumacher. Feel free to apologise when you can't find it.

I dont dislike you at all, I find your anti Hamilton posts quite amusing actually. I cant be bothered to look through the posts its there for all to see.

See you have changed your tune, it's now changed to anti hamilton posts from constant praise of schumacher. Put up or shut up as they say. Find this constant praise of schumacher or man up and admit your wrong.

The only slightly praising post I've made on here about MS is in relation to Damon Hill having to be rated against him.

Sure I don't mind you might see my posts as anti hamilton it may look that way. I can find posts om here where I've gotten stuck into alonso, pedro for cheating and drivers for dubious tactics. Yet I can't find anything to even hint I'm constanting praising of schumacher.

I await you to prove me wrong.

Well if you asked the last time two team mates fought for the title and one of them actually won it, then yes you'd probably be right with Hill/Villeneuve in 96. ;)

Yeah. :D As an F1 journalist James Allen seems quality, I just couldn't stand him as a commentator.

Yeah it's a very good read that site. Some decent inside information and insights. I didn't mind James when he was just the pitlane man with ITV.

It was just when he went into the commentary he became an irritiation to me. Give it 6 months and I reckon most will have the same view of this new guy.

Yeah I think so, browsing various F1 site forums he seems to already be disliked, but usually with the line, atleast he's better than Allen :D

Then again even Murray used to wind people up.

I used to like the bloke that used to do eurosports coverage with Watson years ago but you can't please everyone. Just as many people would dislike him.
 
Legard makes too many mistakes! I suppose he'll get there in time but that's my only complaint with him

Legard is calmer I suppose than Allen. Yes Murray made mistakes but he made mistakes like no-one else could. :D:cool:

Yes, think this is true. Like that "That's a replay" comment Martin had to make over Legard thinking a driver who'd gone off had gone off again. :D
 
Leggard's voice grates on me. In the Malaysian GP, I was listening to Anthony Davidson's commentary, rather than Leggard. Its a shame because Davidson and Brundle would make a good team.

I listened to some of the practice stuff, which I what I'm assuming you mean, and Davidson did seem quite good. Brundle/Davidson would be good but I reckon Brundle/Coulthard would be better. :p

You can also listen to them during qualifying and the race with the red button. I've given up on Legard already. The only annoying thing is that the sound of the world feed (engines etc) is worse on the five live commentary.

Ah. So by listening to the Five Live feed you lose Legard AND Brundle? :(
