Malaysian GP 2009 - Race 2/17

These car in the current set up would really suit montoya. Mostly a hard but fair racer. He usually did his best to leave the car he was passing a car's width, which is why he didn't get on at all with MS.

would be nice to see him in these cars, but theres not a chance in hell :(

A real waste of talent that he's sitting in Nascar.

yup, i watched a few races of nascar and really he is the type of talent that is above nascar by a long shot. I know nascar is hard for different reasons, but Single Seaters suit him miles better. Seeing him in CART, then F1 was great. Its one of the reasons i don't watch CART (or whatever it is now) anymore simply because stars like Montoya or Zanardi have long gone.

But its History now i guess :(

Damn LH is so good in that SLR :o Wish I could do even half of that :D

To me, he seems to be spinning his tyres a lot, which is actually detrimental to a good start or lap time. He is brutalising the car, which over a longer race, would yield a slower time. He was told that he was cooking the brakes which means braking performance would be compromised. I wasn't impressed at all - I thought he would be a lot more technical/smoother than that and would expect even a part-time racing driver to do better.

Now, Senna's lap on the other hand (apart from the heavy wheel spin at the start), was beautiful. If you look how he keeps it on the road and you can hardly hear any wheel spinning or coming off the road. I was surprised that he was blipping the throttle throughout the corner. My own belief is that you should brake once into a corner and accelerate once out of a corner and keep it smooth. Obviously Senna thought differently...and who could argue, afterall he is probably the fastest single lap driver F1 has ever seen. The footwork going on was mesmorising - pressing the clutch and throttle, at the same time, with the same foot, while using his left foot to brake - fantastic!

heres one for the montoya lovers :p

That Montoya is one big cry-baby. The cameraman didnt do it on purpose and apologised, yet Montoya was ready to get physical.

DC doing his irate tailgator impression :D

Yeah DC is just angry that all he ever sees is MS's rear wing. If I was MS, I would've brake-tested DC for the next few corners. I'm pretty sure that in the intensity of it all, DC would've ended up with a broken nose.

thats the best pit mishap i still remember that race on tv :D
its awesome how the guy just seems to surf the trolley :D

you might find this intresting if you have never watched it before

Very interesting.

It seems that MS was using Senna's technique of constantly applying the throttle throughout the corner, as opposed to the technique of breaking once and accelerating once, out of the corner (as shown by Herbert).

It makes me want to bring out my steering wheel and pedals and have a play with my Formula One simulation.

PS. MS was looking very young and a bit chubby in that video.

having a laugh aint you? The Hamilton thing was showing off with Mclaren employees getting "joyrides" with him. Nothing about fast laps, or race wins in a SLR

The Senna clip was about showing how fast the NSX can go (ie for sales)

It's deliberate - he's taking people out for joyrides....

I can't see how it won't be legal. Stewards have said it is legal, all the fia can do is propose a change to the rules so in several races time they will have to change it, but this would just be wrong as it would be awarding the teams that haven't been clever and in affect punishing the teams with fast cars.

I think the appeal teams were right to take it up with stewards, but to appeal their decision seems silly.
