Malaysian GP 2009 - Race 2/17

Question (just to play DA for a moment) - how many folks who used to hate on Schumacher for doing his major work with race strategy are hating on Button for his Malaysia performance? ;)

Eh, whatever. Even being a Ferrari fan (and Lord knows I've taken pain for that and I'm taking pain for it right now), I'm loving the Button renaissance. Lest we forget, he was best of the rest during Ferrari's truly exceptional 2004 despite the talent and teams he was up against. The guy can drive, it's just been masked by some truly award-winningly rubbish cars. Now he has one that can do the job, he's showing his true colours. Now Hamilton is in a car that isn't too clever, he's showing his true colours - I'll leave y'all to make of that what you will. No doubt it'll invite some wonderful posts and e-mails!

Note: Hamilton fans - please, please, please take the above joke in the spirit it was actually intended! :D

Something that has just jumped into my head.... how closely tied were Brawn and Schumacher? What are the posibilities of Schumi joining Brawn in some capacity? Consultant, strategy, etc etc etc? Or has he trully sold his soul to Ferrari for the rest of his life?

very close but i'd imagine schumacher is laughing all the way to the bank and loves his free ferrari cars

18th to 4th in the 1st race, and 13th to 5th (before rollback 1 lap) in the 2nd, in a car that is dog slow... your 'joke' about Hamilton doesnt really work.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaand there it is. Hamilton fans truly have got no sense of humour :)

Yes, Hamilton has done an epic job in a crap car. I believe I've stated that in the Aussie GP thread (not that I expect many of you noticed....). But why oh why oh why did he let himself get dragged into the McLaren shenanigans in Melbourne? Was he that desperate for one more point in the first round of the series? Was he that weak-willed that he wouldn't go against the wishes of a fairly senior member of the team?

Why did he do it?

To be honest, the answer doesn't really matter at all. What's done is done. But I do so love tweaking the Hamilton fans after all the **** I've gotten over the last two seasons! :D

JRS I want your babies.

Flattering, but I fear I must decline ;)

The laps he put in were a full second faster AND he was carrying more fuel AND his soft tyres were worn after 16 laps... He ended up coming out in front by a huge distance after his stop. Impressive. Very Schumi/Brawn-esque.

I don't see why he didn't over take on the track, if hes a second a lap faster he should have breezed past them

Wish people would stop throwing a paddy. They've changed the order before going to the podium, saves post race decisions days after.

Some people just can't be pleased.

Its not that - why the **** wasnt this known for the 50 minutes while we where waiting around with NOTHING happening - Im sorry but FIA / Charlie Whiting would have known this in an instant when the red flag fell, what was all the farting about for?

Not only that what the **** was the point in all that reorganising of the cars after position 3 on the other side of the grid and this 1.30 to unlap themselves when there was blatantly not enough time to do anything

It was a complete farce

Really glad Button won - think he deserved it even after the dodgy start hopefully RB and the team can work out why it was caused. Those few laps while everyone was pitting in the dry where absolutely incredible - he just completely blitzed everyone (while still taking on a reasonable fuel load in his stop)

Resepct to Glock for not argueing about losing a place - he went up in my estimation as a driver in a very difficult race and as a good guy (in a horrible position either way)

I hadnt realised RB had forseen the issues with the 2nd diffuser 12 months ago, even before that I thought the teams with it should be allowed to keep it, but after that I cant see how the FIA can ban it

Not only that but read what James Allen said:
http://allenonf1.wordpress.com/2009/04/05/why-ross-brawn-has-a-clear-consience/
I’ve been told by a senior engineer from a non-trick diffuser team that Brawn came to one meeting and said, albeit not in so many words, “Look we need to change the rules here because we are going to be miles ahead next year.”

The others chuckled politely given how far back Honda were at the time. They are not chuckling now.

Aw, don't be like that NathanE. It's no worse than I've gotten over the years. Actually, what I post is pretty tame in the grand scheme of things.

And hey, I'll stop lampooning it just as soon as the rest of y'all stop posting it in seriousness....

Wouldn't know. I don't wear hats. Look rubbish in them. :(

Btw, another Kimi fan eh?:p
Really wanna get a Kimi cap and other merch:D
Oh yes. :) Looking at an F1 merch site all there is of Kimi is a dark blue shirt with 'Raikkonen' over the Finnish cross and a white version of that. Apart from that a Ferrari shirt with the Finnish flag on a shoulder and his name on the bag. Not a very comprehensive range from the Iceman or should that be Icecreamman? :p
