Would be very funny seeing the Ferrari's running outside the top 10 on race pace - cant see it happening just yet (esp if Renault are having a bad weekend as well) but would be a lovely sight to get some humility back in that team:)

People on this forum seem adamant that Vettel isn't in the same league Alonso or Hamilton.

Sure Hamilton and Alonso have better overtaking skills, but the rest is all there. Vettel would have run away with the championship last year had it not been for mechanical failures. People also need to remember how old he is and that he is the youngest WDC ever. He even has a good sense of humour, or do people just dislike him because he celebrates using his index finger?..

The car is a embarrassment of riches, quick enough to get him pole over a has been in the sister car and job done unless he has to overtake in which case get the brooms ready.

And while I agree alonso hasn't been great the past couple of years he definitely showed great pace in his early years that cant have simply disappeared all together.

That, together with the slagging off of Webber blaming the turkey incident on him by twirling his finger indicating Webber is crazy, I just think he is an annoying ****.

It's got nothing to do with his talent which is abviously there as he is WC

As for Horner talking about his front wing, what a load of ********, it doesn't explain why the wing ends move down/flex much more than others, it's got nothing to do with rake or ride height at all.

... but I'll give my usual "Alonso has it in the bag" statement...

That's the spirit ;)

Its worrying to think what the newey car could do with one of the top tier drivers behind the wheel.

Vettel is a top tier driver. When he is time trialling or qualifying (ie. no traffic, no racing), he is as good as they come.

?
... what has Alonso done recently to prove he is a top tier driver at all. He cant win races without cheating and cant overtake for toffee.

Alonso is arguably the most complete driver currently in F1. You may not like him, but you have to see past the personal dislike. He is the driver who is capable of outperforming his team-mate by the biggest margin.

Have a read: http://www.crash.net/f1/news/161849/1/drivers_driver_result_may_surprise.html
Oh and this: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/formula_1/article5986660.ece

In his prime, MSc was great, but in his second career, he is struggling to beat even Rosberg (let alone Hamilton, Alonso, etc)

Alonso is highly rated by pretty much everybody.

I disagree.

Last year, in the 2nd half of the season, Alonso was fantastic. The first half of the season was poor and I questioned whether his reputation of being the best driver in F1 was valid. After seeing what he did in the 2nd half of the season...my faith was restored.

The best way to judge a driver is how he performs against his team-mate. Alonso was easily the best of the top drivers (compared to a team-mate).

Should be treated the same as everything else that spills out of his mouth, BS.

Horner does talk a lot of BS. But the fact remains: the RBR car is legal. The FIA have stated this time and time again, after the RBR car has passed scrutineering.

ground effect isnt a solution to anything and the fia will never allow proper ground effect anyway because its suicide if a car goes over a bump or bottoms out and every bit of ground effect is lost for enough time to send the car flying off the track

He's damn right though, people just need to shut up and get on with it.
How long do we have to hear all the girls whinging about how life isn't fair because Red Bull's front wing looks flexy?

Less crying, more effort.

Too right, the broken record of crying team personnel and fans was tiring last year, the fact it's still going on is a joke.

Some odd failures this morning, both Virgin and Renault almost ripping their wheels off under braking, must have come as a bit of a shock to the two drivers.

In my opinion the ability to pass the tests does not necessarily make it legal. Regardless, the FIA have basically given all other teams the go ahead to do the same - now they just need to work out how.

The wheel failures this morning were quite strange.

But surely that is the mere definition of what is legal and what isn't?

If the FIA test your car and tell you the car is legal, it is legal.
If the FIA test your car and tell you the car is illegal, then is illegal.

I believe, it really is as simple as that.

I think Horner said it best when he said that tests are made by the FIA, not by McLaren or anybody else. Only the FIA have any authority to declare whether or not a car is legal.

I'm actually amazed.

It passes all the tests, etc. Even further testing designed to prove how illegal it is.
Still... In my mind, it's definitely still illegal.

Is this just an F1 thing?
Anyone else would let it go.

So then based on that video, McLaren have also managed to replicate RBR's ability to manipulate the carbon fibre moulding/creation process.

Why then is nobody up in arms over McLaren's wing?
