Malaysian Grand Prix 2011, Sepang International Circuit - Race 2/19

The weaving was on camera, it was gradual, thought it might get punished. With Petrov he was behind and passed, this one he weaved while defending, hard to say at which point the car behind really made his overtaking move so at which point Hamilton was making his first defending move. Forgotten who it was against, Alonso, maybe, pretty sure it wasn't Webber.

Who did he come out infront of after pitstops, it wasn't after the last pit stop, can't quite remember when it was.

Was through about half of the start/finish straight.

EDIT:_ Seeing as Alonso was complaining about something I assume it was against him and he wasn't complaining about the contact incident. I think it might have been the lap before the hit, not the start finish right before the incident but before that.

.

yeah i remember seing that. Completely forgot you are only allowed to defend once however, didn't think anything of it at the time.

Not too impressed with Coulthard and Brundle now. This is the second race, yet everytime a yellow flag comes out (which I spot instantly as the lap count at the top of the screen goes yellow) they never seem to spot it or comment on it, I'm always curious to see if it's a driver gone off or a car broken down.

You end up seeing it two laps later as a replay, well.. sometimes

Brundle is ALWAYS missing whats going on right infront of him, he was talking about Webber right into the second corner before he mentioned Heidfeld, and didn't mention he'd passed Hamilton till the next corner. Coulthard is "new", Brundle always seems to ignore stuff.

Well, I can't say I'm a fan of the FIAs decisions, but what else is new...
Neither driver deserved punishment today.

Yet another race where the standings have changed after it's finished. Lets try not to make it three in a row FIA, eh? People might think it's a joke sport otherwise.

Hang on, so not only do the cars have KERS and the wing moving thing on the back, but the car infront is only allowed to make one defensive move?

Okay so I realise the "best" drivers today aren't as good as overtaking as the "best" drivers from years gone by, but the FIA seem to be giving every possible advantage to the car trying to get past.

Some of you might say it makes the sport "more entertaining" but personally I find it more entertaining when a driver has to use skill to get past rather than just handing over the position to him...

What on earth was the point of this FIA intervention. It has achieved nothing except "show the world how powerful we are! YEAH! LOOK AT US WE CAN MEDDLE WITH F1 RACE RESULTS IF WE FEEL LIKE IT. WHAT CAN YOU DO?!"

I dont think Hammy or Teflonso deserved a penalty today. The racing was fairly fair if not completely to the textbook, although I too cannot recall seeing LH weaving to defend his position.

Brundle does seem to miss the most obvious things especially the DRS, the number of times the cars didn't have the wing open and both of them said they did is crazy.

This rule has been in place for ages though.
Never really see too many people get caught up for it though... The FIA must have just been a bit bored.

The only thing that altering race results does is drag the sport through the mud.
Why spend the best part of 2 hours watching a race when the end result you witness is effectively a lie.
I'd like to see a proper video of Hamilton clearly breaching this rule today (can't say I saw it myself on the TV feed, and I'm usually the first to criticise Hamilton...), I can imagine we've seen far worse go unpunished in previous races.

Vettel weaved 4 times at the start of the race, in the braking zone, and got nothing.

Hamilton didn't weave. He made 2 moves to the left-side of the track. That's not weaving. Weaving is going left and right.

Correct, Hamilton's penalty has been confirmed for weaving the lap before the collision.

Well they only see what you see surely?

its been like that for ages probably because of agressive defending like this which was barely legal back then
made racing look great though :p note how schumacher does his weave at exactly the right time to line up for the next corner ;)

He did get penalised for the weaving at the high speed corners though, one race suspended ban IIRC.
