Malaysian Grand Prix 2011, Sepang International Circuit - Race 2/19

the alonso/hamilton squabble was the best thing about this **** poor race and they now both been penalised? amazing just amazing....really shows what an awful sport this is becoming.

how can anyone actually watch this **** anymore? seriously? it is nothing compared to races of old....you know where they actually raced.

Yeah the stewards were the complete opposite in the 90s races:

The second was definitely a deliberate attempt to help Williams, I'm surprised no action was taken.

Probably the most utterly stupid and ridiculous decision i've even seen from the stewards. What, didn't they have much to do? Did they get bored so decided to interfear? Bloody idiots, fine them for bringing the sport into disrepute. Getting fed up of having to come back online a few hours after the race to make sure the results still stand. Anything that isn't under investigation before the end of the race shouldn't be persued after. And all decisions should be made before the first car crosses the finish line.
Totally fed up of their crap.

Lol Kevin Clark @ above... Can you insert a dukes of hazzard air horn?

What complete ****

vettle weaves 4 times when all eyes are on him... Lewis barely does any weaving at all and gets this ****, Alonso gets sucked into the back of Lewis car and clips him, Pure racing incident and gets same treatment.

Wonder if Ferrari or McLaren pointed out one so the other pointed out the other? Sick of it now.

just realised its china next week, hamilton likes that place iirc, hopefully he can bounce back with a good result there.

atleast we saw one of the best overtakes ever, 3 abreast into a corner.

The race wasn't bad.

Hamilton and Alonso

I agree with you in that it was fantastic to see the 2 best drivers currently in F1, going wheel to wheel. I know it only lasted a couple of laps, but believe me, that was high quality stuff. Hamilton was defending hard and Alonso was using all the tricks in the book to get past Hamilton. I loved every minute of it.

I am bemused as to why both were penalised, as neither of them complained...I'm bemused.

J.Button
My driver of the day...easy-peasy: J.Button.

I felt this was the best race I've seen from Button in a very long time, on a dry track. He finished only a few seconds away from the unbeatable RBR car of Vettel. Were the RBR not so ridiculously fast, Button would've won this race.

Ferrari
One thing I have noticed is that while in qualifying the Ferrari car is about 1s/lap off the pace, when it comes to the race, Alonso isn't that far off the pace of McLaren.

It was also amusing to see Alonso pull up to the back of Massa, even though he had a broken wing and needed to take an extra pit stop. Another lap and Alonso would've got past his team-mate.

Points Standings
Vettel already has almost double the points of the 2nd placed man...this is a worrying trend as it is quite possible that Vettel may win this year's title by an enormous margin. I can only hope that Ferrari and McLaren can make progress and get a few race wins, to prevent Vettel picking up 25 pts/race.

Next GP is in 7 days...can't wait!

Don't kid yourself

Button only finished that close because RBR let them.

When the message got through to Seb that Hamilton was gaining fast and may take one less stop from them, the hammer was put down and all of a sudden the gap stopped shrinking and started growing again.

he was coasting for most of that race. David has already hinted that they have several ECU maps they can switch between on the fly to adjust how much power the engine makes. All that he'll do is switch to full power and off he goes into the distance again.

FFS FIA. What a pointless waste of time. They want to make the racing more exciting by adding silly additions such as DRS but then go and penalise drivers for having a battle?

Good one. When's the BTCC on next?

McLaren would certainly have had a better chance had Heidfeld not jumped them at the 1st corner which allowed Vettel to scamper off. Even then it's debatable whether they would have got past Seb, he often seems to leave some pace in reserve when he's out at the front.

Btw you wanted an example where Button manages his tyres better than Hamilton during a race, well here it is.:p Both drivers had the same strategy today and on a day of high degradation, Hamilton had to pit again at the end.

Having said that Hamilton seemed to struggle straight away with his 4th set of tyres which were primes, could be an anomaly. Button said his car became 'alive' on the primes, strange how the drivers had totally different experiences of the same compound.
