Correct. Luck and Vastly superior car seems to do the trick though

To be fair, Hamilton's been in **** positions and been helped out a few times by fortunate safety cars so it's not all one way in that respect. It only seems worse when it happens to you/the guy you want to win.

So, 23 points gap and four five races to go...

Never say never?

It's a fine line though isn't it. Hamiltons 8 ish point gain has ended up as a 23 point loss just like that. Whereas rosbergs only retirement was when him and Lewis crashed out together... He was lucky to finish those races when he knocked his wings off etc with last lap crashes so limited his damage. Still, you've got to be in it to win it. As much as I don't like him he's only where he is because he's scored the points to get there.

Oooh, lewis calling conspiracy?

When literally only his engines are blowing.... something is very very strange with that. The team would highlight any changes in mode he's making that he shouldn't, that obviously isn't an issue.

I would say, there is someone in his side of the garage that is completely incompetent and doing something completely dumb he doesn't realise is wrong because frankly it's the most likely explanation. His engines blowing up at a rate twice as much as the next bad Merc car would be bad, but possible, but like 800% more failures than any other Merc team is.... something absolutely suspicious.

Suspicious doesn't have to be malicious, but there is certainly something going on.

Exactly. Whatever's happened to Hamilton's engine is sod all to do with him, he's been in the right place at the right time.

Vettel had appalling luck in 2010 with the best car but still pinched it at the death, seems to be in sport luck changes right at the very end so I'm calling it now - Hamilton will take the title at the last race.

Have to agree with that.

Well done RB. Hamilton was very unlucky again. I hope they say what part went next week.

They already said, the ICE went. But it's pretty simple, big plume of smoke is an engine, a little fire but not huge amount of smoke is usually a turbo, just complete loss of power but no real smoke/fire(initially, later overheating from non moving car can cause a fire) would usually be a crankshaft. Car going but drops speed by 5 seconds a lap, mgu-k gone, though usually indicated and usually happens under braking and car shoots off the track due to not braking enough.

It's pretty easy to tell what has gone.
