Ricciardo dedicates his win to Jules Bianchi. Top bloke.

BTCC is on ITV4, first race in about 30 mins :)

Cheers! Isn't it like 5/6 could possibly win the title? You wouldn't see that in f1.. Lol!

I must admit it's nice to see a smiley face up there for once. He genuinely seems like a likeable bloke.

EIGHT drivers could win the title

Ricciardo's a top bloke. F1 needs more like him. Skilled, fast, happy, down to earth, humble and isn't robotic in interviews.

I can't help but wonder why the stewards took so long to give Nicola his obvious penalty?

The delay meant Nicola pitted for his final time and was then told 10 seconds would be added to his race time, instead of Nicola coming out behind Kimi (who he hit for the penalty) and then having to try to pass cleanly for third position.

Oh and RBR cars queuing in the pit lane under VSC for their final tyre change, instead of on consecutive laps, effectively giving Max a mini-penalty... Please!

Must try harder, 3/10.

Stats according to F1 Fanatic:

2014 retirements: Hamilton 3 / Rosberg 2

2015 retirements: Hamilton 1 / Rosberg 1

2016 retirements: Hamilton 2 / Rosberg 1

So on the surface, it looks very even.

What that doesn't reflect is the technical issues Hamilton has in quali which have impacted his race and the poor starts they've both suffered from.

Incredibly bad luck for Hamilton - not just his engine failing AGAIN but the fact Rosberg has two pretty strong collisions (one his fault) and has no damage or punctures!

I literally don't know how Vettel's car looked like it did and Rosberg had zero damage at all. Crazy.

He was also very lucky not to get a front right puncture against Kimi as he caught his front wing and bits flew of Kimi's car.

I really don't buy into conspiracy theories but I do think Lewis has had some seriously awful luck with his car this year. As has been said, of all the Mercedes engines out there amongst the whole grid - he seems to be getting all the problems, even when taking penalties to have new ones!!

It will be a very hollow victory for Rosberg if he wins the championship ( not that he will care) - Lewis would no doubt be leading comfortably without the technical issues that are out of his control.

Decent race I thought, with plenty of incidents. Happiest podium of the year - genuinely laughed when Webber threw the shoe to the engineers. The racing between Verstappen and Ricciardo was brilliant, and Ricciardo staying ahead into the stacked pitstops just gave him enough for the win.

I thought Rosberg's penalty was a bit harsh - I expected a 5 second penalty - but it didn't make any difference in the end. Huge bad luck for Hamilton, but his comments post-race were completely inappropriate. Of course he's hugely frustrated and disappointed, angry and upset, but they were very deliberately insinuating that he's being held back in some way. The conspiracy nut jobs will have a field day with those comments, but it must be enormously hurtful to all the staff and engineers who've worked so hard to give him that car and two successive world championships. Real lack of class.

On a side note, the Honda engine in the McLaren really has come on compared to the beginning of the season. It is certainly competitive with the midfield now - nice to see some positive relative progress.

Ay? If there is a conspiracy (there isn't), but if there was, why would his comments be hurtful to anyone who wasn't in on it or doing anything wrong? It isn't like he singled anyone out is it. One of the pit crew is hardly going to be deeply hurt because Lewis said he thinks it is odd that only his Mercedes engines are having problems.

It is odd that it only seems to be him suffering. Someone on the page before suggested it could be Lewis doing something wrong - possible but unlikely. You could just as easily suggest that maybe his crew are doing something wrong (not intentionally) - again possible but unlikely, but if they are then they shouldn't feel hurt by Lewis' comments - they should put it right.

It could also genuinely just be incredible bad luck that he is getting the engines that have suffered manufacturing faults.

Raikkonen had some terrible luck with engines for a good 2 or 3 years at McLaren, and he was Ron's baby (after Hakkinen).

Remember Hamilton's bad luck in qualifying was wiped out by some amazing luck at Spa. Even in those races where he had problems in qualifying he was still able to finish the race strongly.

Obviously a failure while cruising to an easy win is the most gutting way for it to happen though.

He did put something on Facebook since where he thanked the team and everything so I think what he said post race was just frustration. Or he got told off.. Either or I guess?! Lol

I'd like to think he meant it though.

I took the "something or someone doesn't want me to win the WDC" comments in a religious context. A bit like when someone says that "someone is looking down on me" when they get lucky.

Quite. I don't think he really thinks someone is sabotaging him within the team :p

He's even clarifed the comments just in case anyone thought that..

What that doesn't reflect is the technical issues Hamilton has in quali which have impacted his race and the poor starts they've both suffered from.

Nor Rosberg hitting him twice, Bottas smacked him about this year. Had to look it up because couldn't quite remember but Hamilton got pole at Bahrain but being hit by Bottas went back to 9th and had damage all race. He's had 4 races as a result of failures(and the engine penalties to rectify those failures) where he's started 10th or below in the race.

That is without factoring in bad starts, which appear to not be down to drivers but an issue with the clutch that isn't getting resolved this year. It appears to be down to luck if you have the issue and he's had more bad luck with that one as well.

Overall with all those issues, Rosberg shouldn't be even in sight of Hamilton at this point but he is.

He also obviously had the race where he had to take a penalty and start from the back.

Rosberg was unlucky in today's race but that was obviously wiped out by Hamilton's worse luck.
