That's what I thought about Chelsea a few years ago...
Amazing what an open chequebook does for you in football eh? :)
Doubt it, Chelsea have always been a big team who won things:)
Man.U. have got an open chequebook now then? That stinks, that's all down to the dirty new owner:mad:

I'm still not convinced about the Glaziers, they seem to have this ability to destroy any sports team they buy.
I'm giving them a chance though, but the amount of debt they put themselves in to buy Man Utd in the first place can only mean a smaller transfer kitty.

Chelsea will dominate football for the next 10 years, but only due to the funds they have at their disposal.
How did United do it? With their youth ranks - the Nevilles, Giggs, Beckham, Scholes, Butt, to name a few. The only real place they have spent money is up front.

Sorry all, but money talks in football, and it's a shame.

(Sorry for OT rant - back to the Carling Cup :))

Saha's goal was pants imo - should have scored from his first touch and then clowned it in with his hip.

I don't think 4-0 is a fair reflection of the match, Wigan just seemed to collapse a bit after our second goal, they'd come out firing on all cylinders at the start of the second half.

I absolutely hate this result as it means people won't ask questions of SAF's awful decisions. Why was Ruud not given some time on the pitch? I could seriously see him leaving after what was a big slap in the face from Fergie. Evra, Richardson and Vidic need playing time, but not over Ruud. I feel pretty annoyed at Ruud not getting any time.

If I was a Wigan supporter I'd be asking serious questions of Poullet's warm up routine - isn't that about the 3rd or 4th hamstring he's pulled this season?

Nice sentiment for Smudger though.

Man UTD overjoyed with carling Cup win, oh how the mighty have fallen. ;)

It was only a few years back when Man UTD fans were cockily telling me how domestic trophies were 'mickey mouse' cups and that the Champions League was where it's at.

I just caught a glimpse of him going down the tunnel with a face like thunder.

What happened, or was it cause he didnt play?

He wasn't started, then wasn't brought on when the game was sealed. Instead SAF in his infinite wisdom brought on Richardson, Evra and Vidic and could well have just started the ball rolling to losing arguably our best player. Rooney and Ruud are in a different class to any of our players and were forming a great partnership. Saha is a waste of time, money and a team selection.

Underwhelmed TBH.

As i said in my first post in the thread, Wigan cant cope with any kind of quality and pace at the back, Henchoz and De Zeouw (sp) are fine heading balls out on crosses and corners, and standing people up on the edge of the box, once they are drawn away from the 18 yard box however, they are a liability.

Half decent performance from United, and Wigan are crushed, its a testiment to the poor quality football being played in the Prem at the minute that they are where they are.

He's just been unlucky with injuries in the last year or so. He has done a lot better in the last few weeks, you can't disagree there, his goals speak for themselves. No way is he better than Ruud though.
