Manchester Bombing *** Please remain respectful and refrain from antagonising posts ***

Heartbreaking :( My thoughts are with the families, children and everyone affected by this evil act by this absolute scum.

I bet you do, but they'll earn you a suspension.

Beat me to my response.

I woke early this morning to this news on my feed. (2am - as the baby woke up).

Utterly shocking. Targeting children - cowardice.

Some of the comments in this thread too - Now should be the time to offer condolences to family and friends etc. Not for political and religious debates.

First of all, thoughts go out to those caught up, horrible news to be waking up to. I studied there for university so I hope everyone I knew up there is ok.

But I would like just to go back to the previous points a few posts back. Do NOT get the wrong end of the stick, no sympathising going on here. But understanding motivation is important, and frankly I find it a bit distressing that some here cannot see why there are those out there committing horrible acts and instead resort to "just pure evil, scum etc etc".

Whether it's through brainwashing, general misguidedness or straight stupidity, if you genuinely believed that you were in the right and that terrible things were happening to your people... don't you all see how this can be one outcome?

Terrorism in this form is completely impossible to stop 100%. Yes you can kill the head of ISIS, you can break up cells, you can even stop the lone wolf nutter who went to the shop to buy a ton of nails. But you want stop it every time. A more long term solution is to somehow persuade that group of people that we are not the devil, we actually aren't that bad.

How that exactly happens I'm not sure.

Anyway as I said, please don't confuse what I'm saying as sympathising... I don't condone this at all. But there are reasons behind things beyond "they are bad".

Much anti Western and anti British rhetoric here this morning, one has to wonder why some people come here, or choose to remain living here. Emigration should be considered. Much censorship this morning too...Looks like The Running Man has been run out of town for mentioning the A word.

Juncker just in on the act with the the great news that the EU is pulling together and supporting us, (whilst Europe sends flotillas to ferry more illegals across the Med into Europe to replace those that detonate).

Manchester mayor states this must not divide us, white stick and guide dog, rather than mayoral chains needed. He only needs to read this forum...

Even the Tories have been blamed for this latest atrocity by some here. Rather tenuous, even for GD.

If that's an emotionally charged statement in response to the attack then fair enough, but otherwise that's a fairly silly, narrow minded and immature point to make.

Absolutely horrific, as already said numerous times in this thread any terrorist bomb attack is awful but it was a certainty that children would be harmed/killed in this instance. Sick bunch of *****.

As for what can be done I would suggest anyone found having any form of prior/associated knowledge about these attacks (friends/families) and not reporting is given a massive prison sentence (without all the lengthy court cases); encourage people to come forward and report, if they do they are free from prosecution and makes it harder for the bombers to operate.

Wake up, flip on the news. Things are clearer now. Apparent suicide bomber. 22 dead, including children. I don't have the words to describe my feelings of revulsion for whoever was responsible.

We're Greater Manchester. The IRA levelled a chunk of our city centre 20 years ago. You can't terrorise us into submission.

I wonder if the person/persons responsible are even on the 3000 strong Mi5 watch list or like the Westminster attacker Khalid Masood not even on the radar.

He's right, if you have any empathy with these extreme religious child killers you should gtfo out of the country, maybe move to Syria so hopefully you receive the lovely treatment you deserve by the people you empathise with

Yep. The way we let in people who don't fit or respect our culture is ridiculous.

First of all RIP to all the victims, truly heartbreaking.

How do you do that when this country has been bombing / invading eastern countries continuously for over 15 years, killing thousands of people including women and children no less valuable than the women and children killed last night?

Went to bed hoping it wasn't a terrorist attack but woke up to this news this morning.

This was one of two gigs my daughter asked me to take her too (not the MEN venue though) so has really hit home who these disgusting people are targeting

I actually feel really angry this morning......

RIP to the victims and my thoughts with the friends, relatives and wounded. Horrible, horrible tragedy. Any loss of life would be indescribably sad but the targetting of children also makes me deeply, deeply angry.

I know it's probably been said a thousand times this morning, but the people of Manchester are some of the best this country has to offer and I've absolutely no doubt this horrific event will do nothing but bring them closer together.

My heart goes out to everyone effected. We stand with you in absolute support.
