Sometimes children and adults come under the influence of malign parties such as my friend who wasn't like this at all until after she moved out from her parents. And I mean - at all. She was a normal, Western girl in every respect save she spoke her parents' native language middling-well and obviously looked Pakistani. If someone like her been involved in an atrocity, I know her parents would be utterly devastated and firebombs through the letterbox would be the last thing they needed or deserved. If you think that vengeance on the family is appropriate, I think you have no idea just how pernicious and devious radical Islam is.

N.b. All of this on the assumption that this is Islamic Terrorism which seems probable given the police are clearly investigating the bomber's wider circle, but unconfirmed as far as I am aware.

If nothing else mob justice could also stop the intelligence services from potentially gathering information from family members, etc. which could be fundamental in stopping further attacks or an ongoing situation. At the end of the day I don't know how anyone can even think of retribution against family members for the action of an individual - though if it was proved they were complicit I wouldn't really have a problem with it but that is another story - its as often as anything how these whole circles of violence get started.

Because witch hunts solve don't solve anything, if the family had any involvement then they will be punished accordingly.

I have to admit you only hear of witch hunts of family members when it's a muslim terrorist. You don't hear the same people crying for any family members of British born white criminals / terrorists to be hung or sent to jail too.... Just because they are family members.

If they are found to have witheld information, or helped with the crime then I expect them to be punished in accordance with the crime they did
 
I'd imagine lots of quick over-reaction in the next coming days. Which I'm not bothered about as long as we dont have another jean charles de menezes
 
We've closed our retail stores in the Arndale and Piccadilly centres because of further explosion just now.

edit: oh no wait, it's already a false alarm. Guess the stores are taking advice from police and shutting when needed.

Lads like this are often seen down my local rock bar and usually think nothing of it, though it can make me look twice and maybe cross the road if there is a big group of them dressed similarly and being rowdy. Odd because i found rock bars some of the most friendliest places to drink at, where every bloke isn't just out for a fight or to score.

The BBC's reporter Dan Johnson says police have not said what the nature of the threat is but that people need to get back.

Dan says a witness told him he heard shots.There are also reports that a man has been arrested.
