Mantle Feedback/Bugs

Played half a dozen full games now on 64 man servers (Shanghai and Zavod, various game types) without a crash. Can't confirm if there is any improvement in fps (usually around the 40-60 range), but the game feels smoother and my kill rate (which is pathetic at the best of times) has improved a lot over previous games. I know Mantle is not optimised for 7950s but that does not mean there is no improvement at all - just hope this is not just the frame pacing kicking in on Eyefinity. Well, actually I do, as it would mean there is still some benefit to come from 7xxx optimisation.

BF4 dosnt last a round using mantle do back to DX until they fix the new mess they have made.

This was what I had to put up with on DX. Not played it in a couple of weeks, it's still broken, very rarely will I get more than one map complete before a disconnect.

This is before mantle, not tried mantle yet waiting to RMA my card.
 
Then explain why I rocking solid 120fps on Ultra?? very little drops and very smooth. Only thing changed I switched of MSAA. But on DirectX my frame rate will be all over the place?

My only issue is the game will randomly crash. Mantle is very well working on my system and if you want I can proof it for you.


You might want to ask amd that, they're the ones doing the release notes. And as seen above anything below a 290 will only see limited gains.
 
i think the graphics have been lowered slightly to give the impression of large gains just my opinion

I don't think that, if you look at both screenies. All the details are present in the Mantle version, it's just rendered with higher contrast ratio..

Think people are being overly critical. Really impressed with this so far. Remember this is at launch peeps, will only get better..

So what Ultra terrain detail is still actually medium terrain detail? What do we have to do to get Ultra terrain detail? Can you prove the continuation of this problem with ss?

I am AFK currently but yes, do have all the screenshots on my PC at home. However, it is easier just to go to this post on BLog which details it. As you can see on the post there has been no change.

AMD's first attempt at an API, gives all the detail of MS polished DX11, as well as higher FPS and smoother rendering..

You must be a very hard person to please.

I'm impressed, AMD have done good imo, competition is good and AMD are bringing it against DirectX, good on em.

I've spent the whole day comparing (in between the crashes in Mantle mode) and there is no difference in iQ.

Smoothness and FPS? just :D
 
I am seeing a lot of negative comments about Mantle but are these problems more to do with BF4 being a broken game.

I don't think we can pass judgement on Mantle until it is used with a game that actually works properly.

As for me I will be sticking with the 13.12 drivers until they get CF working.

yes it was knocked over lol, but I obviously got my performance increase from the one missing lamp post.;)

If you actually read what I was saying - I said there are some difference in that region in regards to how stuff is being rendered and purposefully excluded the lamp post difference from having any relevance - dismissing the fact it wasn't there as potentially being due to being blown up or something in action...

apologies I read that wrong but i cant see much if any difference. bar the fog and slight difference in colour
 
It's a much smoother overall experience. I don't notice any screen tearing at all and there are very occasional fps dips but it seems to be a bug more than a performance limitation as really heavy scenes gunfights don't suffer from low fps drops at all.

Very impressive.

Don't go down that road Rroff. At least provide solid evidence if you are.

Implying that Mantle was a fail because of a missing lampost?

Made me chuckle to think that Mantle gives you higher FPS, renders smoother.. This is the first iteration, and your rolling eyes about a lamp post :D

Makes you sound very hard to please imho.

Maybe you weren't saying that, I dunno that but that's what it read like. Let's hope your not that petty..
