Mantle Feedback/Bugs

84c is fine. 120c I would worry :)

Good. Other than that, I'm very impressed. Never expected to see much gain since sitting on a 4930K. But definitely feels smoother. My minimums are up for sure (don't believe I saw it go any lower than 100 in a huge 64 server)!

Good work AMD :D

Good stuff :) Mantle is looking good for sure. A few bugs but to be expected from the off.

I am surprised people with 7 series cards are reporting gains though, as Mantle isn't optimised for those cards yet.

I am to put simply blown away by Mantle.

I've gained about 50 FPS :D

Exactly the same settings as last night/same clock speeds.

The only issue i've got is all of a sudden my FPS drops to 30 (hitching) but I'm sure it will get fixed with a future driver update.

Edit.

My 7970s are working harder too, the fans are going crazy :)

Edit again,

IT'S BEAUTIFUL

So are you saying crossfire is working for you chief?

And have you tried the core unparking app?

Liking it so far!

Just had a quick round of BF4 and boy does it feel smoother, FPS seems a bit higher but I was happy with the FPS I was getting before so not taken too much notice of that yet. Did have a couple of spikes on the perfoverlay graphs but literally only the two I saw and only one was big enough to be felt in game for a fraction of a second.

One thing though it seemed awfully dark, had to ramp the in game brightness up to 100% to be able to see properly in some places. Though this might just be me needing to recalibrate as I've just moved, have no curtains in the place at the moment and it's a sunny day here this morning.

Currently running at High settings, x2 MSAA, deferred off as I game on a 120Hz monitor but will try ramping some back up to Ultra, see what the perf hit is like now with Mantle. But if I can keep it above 60 fps and still feel this smooth I will be happy.

Might put off that upgrade to a 290 a while longer, though still interested in trying TruAudio in Thief if it turns out to be any good.

Scenario A: Oxide decided to deliberately cripple DX on a game engine they are using for their own games? Knowing full well it would render Nvidia cards worthless thus alienating the majority of their potential market.

Scenario B: Oxide used Mantle to enable a level of detail and graphical quality that is just not possible on DX?

I'm going with scenario B thanks.

Theyve created an engine and demo in DX, then converted it to mantle... Have they implemented command lists in their DX version? No? Then it IS scenario A

Got BF4 running with mantle on the test range, but all subsequent attempts to launch BF4 has caused it to crash. Now cannot get it to start up at all. :(

4670K + 290 5040X1050 all low settings fps limit 125.
had 115fps limit previously.
played a few rounds works well.
125fps stable and only a few fps drops and much better than previously.

Couple of things that I would like to see tested if possible.

Can we have some benches of the previous catalyst drivers vs the new ones in DirectX please, as I have seen a couple of reports that performance has dropped a bit purely on the directX side of things.

Can we have some full resolution(in spoiler tags obviously) screen shots so we can see for our selves if there is any difference in image quality between mantle and directX as andybird has already noticed one instance of this.
