Mantle Feedback/Bugs

LtMatt add some benchmarks and screenshots please that's what we have all been waiting for, do tests in DX and Mantle of the same areas and I'm not bringing rubbish into this thread it's starting to go viral on the internet that the visual quality is terrible compared to DX. So what's the point of going backward in visual quality ? When you can do the same thing in DX by lowering the quality and probably getting the same frame rates. The Idea of Mantle was to keep the high quality that DX has and raise the frame rates. So far from what I have seen and others on the internet that has not happened, unless it really is a bug or just they have not finished polishing mantle to do the same quality visuals as DX. I don't know that's why I'm hoping one of you guys on here can prove something. I wish I had a R290x now to try it myself because I have been looking forward to something other than DirectX to come out.

The other thread was not locked because of that, it was locked because it got too long and a new thread was best for the benchmarks as Mantle is out now.

Anyone else noticing loss of colour and detail with mantle?

Swings and roundabouts. (Hate the phrase but seems appropriate)

When you take time to look. Colours aren't as vibrant, but the image looks cleaner and sharper. Loss of detail with the graffiti but rooftop antennae are better in the mantle screenshot.

Give it time all.

I've been waiting to try mantle since October and now my girlfriend insists we must stay at her mums tonight coz it's her bday! Aaarrghghghhg

Will have to wait till lunchtime tomorrow boo :(

You can see a difference in the mountains to be fair. I'm edging towards this is a Dice bug, but i will notify AMD as well. Lighting definitely seems a bit different. I prefer the lighting on the Mantle API but the mountains are definitely a bit more blurry.

Pics broken matt :(

Anyway my original post about the fog issue was to discuss the point. I hate it when trolls like tommy boy come in posting silly pictures derailing the thread. There is no need for it. Whether that was aimed at me or not it was totally uncalled for.

Credibility just went down posting battlelog links m8 :D

yeah I was excited about the mantle news so I went straight there to see what peoples views were. I always take posts there with a pinch of salt but it seemed to have a few replies confirming the issue.

Thats the problem its pretty hard atm to tell what is a BF4 bug and what is a mantle issue and given its BF4 its easy to err on the side of dice being incompetent (because quite frankly having some idea as to the coding involved - if I'd submitted something like that to my lecturer when I studied programming I'd have been laughed off the course).

EDIT: BTW your images aren't loading.

so empty server screenshots to show my cpu bottleneck even on an empty 64 man server. I cant figure out how to screenshot in mantle so its taken with phone.
Mantle usage graph is also much smoother. I have briefly played full 64 man server but will further test it this evening much smoother though and minimums seem to stay above 60.
this is just a base test so dont respond with " but its an empty server" :D

Just type 'screenshot.render' in console :) Screenshots are saved in My Documents > Battlefield 4 > Screenshots

That shows a significant level of extra fogging - the 3rd lamp post in the line can barely be seen on Mantle - definitely giving fuel to those claiming its not drawing stuff at a long distance and covering up that with closer fog.

It is quite an obvious bug, I'm quite surprised it wasn't picked up before hand. Now the question is, how many patches will it take to fix it?
